Hi! Any Scandinavians to help me decide the spelling? Having a baby girl and I really like the uniqueness of the version Áile, but wondering how it’s seen in the Scandinavian region, if strange.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] – while I’m not Scandinavian, it does seem a little strange to me for someone non-Sámi to use a [name_f]Sami[/name_f] name, especially in order to honour a Norwegian person (I saw your post before it was edited, but didn’t have time to reply then), considering the discrimination the Sámi have historically endured in Norway.
Unrelated to its use as an honour name, I just like the look and sound of [name_f]Aili[/name_f] more, I think it’s such a sweet name!
Thank you, I just learned about the discrimination the [name_f]Sami[/name_f] face, that’s why I edited the post. To me the Aile spelling is so unique and beautiful, but understand that it could be strange if I’m not [name_f]Sami[/name_f].
