Ailsa...

I really love this name right now! But I’m wondering if it’s too reminiscent of Frozen. Thoughts?

I loved it as well but ultimately nixed it because of Frozen, to be honest. It’s just too close to [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and it would be really confusing, I think. Like “Oh like [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] from Frozen?” “Er, no… like [name_f]AILSA[/name_f]”

I know it’s a bummer. But this may be a short lived faze maybe?

I really love [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]! There’s something about the sound that makes it sound really magical, soft, and unusual. It’s such a beautiful name, with a meaning that further adds to its magical, mysterious quality. Okay, it’s reminiscent of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], but I definitely wouldn’t think you’d named your daughter after the character or because of Frozen. Especially in writing, they’re clearly two different names.

The loose similarity is greater on paper than when spoken, I think.

Aisla/[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a beautiful name, and unless you already have kids, no-one thinks of Frozen (people at work without kids have literally never heard of it!)

Go for it.

I wouldn’t think Frozen because [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] isn’t [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. I think it’s a lovely name.

@esita: [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] are two completely different names which don’t sound the same (ayl-suh and eye-la).

I love it, but I unfortunately think that people would often mentally correct it to [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] if they heard it spoken or [name_f]Alisa[/name_f] if they saw it written down. It’s so lovely that it might be worth having to correct them, however.

I misread [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] as “Aisla” which is a variant sp of “[name_f]Isla[/name_f]”. Apologies OP!

I love [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]. It’s so lighthearted but wholesome, like the epitome of cozy-celtic. I knew a girl named [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] growing up and it was possibly the first name I ever really loved / admired. It’s funny because I was talking to my mum about it (and the girl from my primary school) and she said that she ALSO grew up with an [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] and always admired her name. Crazy.

Anyway, no, it’s not too Frozen at all? I never would have thought of that. Very different names.

Aisle gets a huge yes.
