This is a place-name. I think it’s a city/disputed country. Akrotiri
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would work as a name? Boy or girl?

Nope. Not at all.
Agreed. It doesn’t work.
i think it could work as a name of a character in a fantasy novel but not as a childs name
I could imagine with with and ‘asian like’ family name, but… with nothing else really :S
I don’t think it’s useable. In addition to being very strange and having no history of use as a first name (that I know of, anyway), I would be hesitant to use a geographical name with no connection to the locality. If you’d been there or had some connection to archaeology (since it seems the initial civilization was all destroyed by a volcano, so there is no settlement now), perhaps it would be an interesting middle.
Interestingly, it looks like Akrotiri is also the name of an RAF base in [name_m]Cyprus[/name_m].
No. It’s a British overseas territory and one primarily associated with the air base. Most of what I’ve heard about it comes from families who’ve gone to live out there with their RAF parents. Weird name and bit of a weird place to be named after.
Georgia[/name_f]]I’m all for original, unique, off-the-grid, uncommon names - so long as they sound good. Akrotiri doesn’t sound appealing at all to me, I personally wouldn’t use it[FONT=[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]][/FONT]
Sounds like a good name for a fantasy/sci-fi goddess. Write a story about her, don’t name a real person that.
Not a fan.
Thanks, everyone! It’s on my real-life list now, but marked as ‘character only’.
