Prefer [name]Alasdair[/name], but I know I’m one of the few!

I’ve always preferred [name]Alistair[/name] (which got my vote), but I’ve always liked [name]Alasdair[/name], too. With [name]Grace[/name], I think I actually prefer [name]Alasdair[/name]… if I would have thought of that when I voted, I probably would have voted [name]Alasdair[/name]…

Good luck!

It would actually be the middle name for [name]Desmond[/name]. I like both versions. [name]Alistair[/name] is more recognizable (at least where I live) and perhaps more visually appealing to me. But, [name]Alasdair[/name] is the Scottish version and I have a very strong Scottish background, so I’m torn.

[name]Desmond[/name] [name]Alistair[/name]

[name]Desmond[/name] [name]Alasdair[/name]

I just don’t know.

I think [name]Alasdair[/name] looks nicer. It seems more warm and friendly whereas [name]Alistair[/name] just gives me an image of a stuck up boy. No idea why, that’s just my reaction.

I think I like [name]Alasdair[/name] best. Mostly because it’s the Scottish spelling and because it doesn’t have the word “stair” in it. Either way, it’s a great name. It’s on our short list as well.

Best wishes!

I like [name]Alistair[/name] best in general, but particularly when paired with [name]Desmond[/name]. The matching ‘d’ just seems a bit much for me. (I know it is basically pronounced the same, but I hear the ‘d’ more explicitly somehow when I know it is there in the spelling.)

I’d go with [name]Alisdair[/name]; it seems more fantastic and whimsical, while [name]Alistair[/name] seems a bit too down-to-earth for my tastes. (and usually I go for the down-to-earth type)
