[name]Alaska[/name] is hard for me to get behind as a name, I can’t quite explain why. I don’t think it’s the worst, and I [name]LOVE[/name] the personal connection you have to it : D. But I am also thinking you know, there are potential teasing things here with grizzly bears, size, and cold, and the middle syllable. I mean, there’s teasing potential with ANY name, so I am not trying to be overwhelmingly negative, just want to be sure you’ve thought about these since this isn’t so familiar.
Of the combos suggested here, I really like [name]Alaska[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]!!! Besides AJ, I think [name]Ali[/name]/[name]Allie[/name] would be a perfectly cute nickname for a little girl [name]Alaska[/name]. I also find [name]Alaska[/name] [name]Jude[/name] a little odd. [name]Alaska[/name] [name]Judith[/name] isn’t idea, but I could get behind it. I liked [name]Alaska[/name] [name]June[/name] except it is sounds so much of a phrase (I didn’t think of [name]Juneau[/name], weirdly).
I think [name]Alaska[/name] would be a DELIGHTFUL middle : D. I think all of the teasing concerns go away with that, and you can pick a name with maybe nickname options you like better than AJ and [name]Ali[/name]/[name]Allie[/name].
What other names do you like should you have other children? [name]Alaska[/name] potentially sets a very specific tone for future kids names.
Are there particular places you like to go in [name]Alaska[/name] that could also inspire the name? I actually think [name]Juneau[/name] is a great name (I know so little about [name]Alaska[/name] though sadly I don’t know if that’s somewhere people go!), and the northern lights make me think of the lovely [name]Aurora[/name].
I totally dig it, but [name]Jude[/name] makes it too confusing with [name]Alaska[/name] as a first name. [name]Allie[/name] [name]Jude[/name] says girl, [name]Alaska[/name] [name]Jude[/name] says boy.
Some alternatives to [name]Jude[/name] as the middle:
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]Jade[/name]
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]Joan[/name]
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]Joanne[/name]
[name]Alaska[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
I think it’s a cool name but with [name]Jude[/name], it sounds too masculine to me. I think it would be great with something more traditionally feminine in the middle.
I personally don’t like place names like [name]Alaska[/name]; I think they’re too trendy and don’t age very well. And I also think of a baked alaska, to add to the “I’ll ask ya.” I think names like [name]Alaska[/name] just look like too hard of an attempt to be unique, sorry. [name]Just[/name] my opinion, though.
With uncommon names, I think it helps balance them by using a more traditional middle name. I really like the suggestion of [name]Alaska[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Alaska[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]. If the daughter is super spunky, she may love to go by [name]Alaska[/name]. If she’s a bit more feminine or shy, she might prefer [name]Josephine[/name], and then there’s AJ and [name]Allie[/name] like you suggested.
I do really like names with some personal significance. If [name]Alaska[/name] is really important to you, the state gem is [name]Jade[/name] and the state bird is [name]Willow[/name] Ptarmigan, so [name]Willow[/name]. They’re not as strange as [name]Alaska[/name] but they carry a subtle nod to the connection you have to the state.
