Alba

I’ve asked before about [name]Alba[/name] and had mixed reactions. It’s completely different from my usual naming taste (other favourites include [name]Mae[/name], [name]Isla[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Ada[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Emilia[/name], [name]Claire[/name]) but I just can’t stop loving the name! I absolutely adore it, even more so with the Time [name]Traveler[/name]'s Wife connection (my absolute favourite book of all time). I love the meaning and the sound and the way it rolls off your tongue. I was wondering if I could have more opinions from you guys? I’d also love idea’s for a sibset and middle names, but especially a sibset.

Thanks!

Well, I love it! I also love [name]Alma[/name], but it sounds like [name]Alba[/name] has more personal meaning to you, which is great. And I don’t think it’s out of place among your other favorites at all. Your style is somewhat old-fashioned, so the only thing that makes [name]Alba[/name] stand out to me is the fact that it hasn’t been rediscovered yet. I’m predicting you’re just ahead of your time - [name]Alba[/name] has a beautiful, soft sound and vintage appeal; everything modern parents are looking for. I hope you use it, and I’ll bet within the next decade or so we’ll start hearing it on more folks’ lists.

As for sibsets, you could pair it with just about anything else on your favorites list - it may be a bit matchy with [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Ada[/name], but any of the others would make a beautiful set.

I went to Bologna for the Book Fair when my daughter was about eight months’ old and we applied for and were given a government nanny so that I could attend business meetings, etc in the evenings. She was a linguistics student at the University of Bologna and her name was [name]Alba[/name], and I have loved it ever since, especially in its Italian pronunciation. It’s a great name and I say use it.

I giggled when I saw that someone with the username ‘dumbledore’ was asking about the name [name]Alba[/name]. I think I might be a little too excited for the movie this weekend. Anyway…

I think [name]Alba[/name] is a lovely name. Since it has such meaning to you I think it is definitely worth consideration.

I like [name]Alba[/name] very much. [name]Just[/name] don’t pair it with [name]Cora[/name]!
Of course, naming is easier when knowing the last name (it matters!), but how about:

[name]Alba[/name] [name]Briana[/name]
[name]Alba[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Alba[/name] [name]Chess[/name]
[name]Alba[/name] Lorrain
[name]Alba[/name] [name]Reese[/name]

I’m not sure if I’ve responded to your posts before about [name]Alba[/name], or if it was someone else, but either way, I just love [name]Alba[/name]. Its short, concise, easy to pronounce and spell, but still unusual and lovely.

[name]Rosalba[/name] has been a favorite of mine, especially as a middle name. [name]Alba[/name] is equally sweet, and I’ve been warming to the possibility. (I love that it could honor my great-grandfather, Albano.)
