Alden? Similar?

[name]Do[/name] you pronounce [name]Alden[/name] as all-den or al-den? I like it as all-den, if that’s even correct.

My boys’ name list is pretty lacking… we can only really agree on [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] (he hates [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], and [name]Vincent[/name]). He said he “might” like [name]Alden[/name]. Any names that feel like [name]Alden[/name], [name]Theo[/name], or [name]Henry[/name]? He doesn’t like anything he perceives to be an upcoming trend or “hippster-y” (his word, not mine).

If it helps, style-wise, our girls list is [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], and [name]Mae[/name] so far and possibly [name]Elowen[/name]. I’m pretty sure my husband hates 99% of all names

Thanks!

When I read the name, I pronounced it al-den.

As far as other options, maybe:

[name]Arlo[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]George[/name] (since you like [name]Georgia[/name] for a girl)
[name]Hugh[/name]

I pronounce it the way you like, all-den.

Similar to [name]Alden[/name], [name]Theo[/name], [name]Henry[/name]: all are quirky, studious, quiet names.

[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Francis[/name]
[name]Freddie[/name] / [name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Wallace[/name]
[name]Acton[/name]
[name]Seaton[/name]
[name]Russell[/name]
[name]Mitchell[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Mercer[/name]
[name]Forrest[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]

Thanks, [name]Blade[/name]… you pretty much just hit it on the head. If it sounds like a guy you’d find in a darkened corner of a library reading some ancient looking book, that’s probably in my wheelhouse.

Thanks, [name]Griff[/name], I hadn’t even heard of [name]Arlo[/name] until you mentioned it, which set me off on another hunt for names similar to that one.

Appreciate it

I pronounce it “ALL-den”. Honestly, this is one of those names I’m not sure I could pronounce the other way as hard as I tried. This way seems like the only way I’d be able to say it.

I don’t have a lot of suggestions and I think most have been suggested before, but I love [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Henry[/name], so I’ll give you other names we looked at:
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Maxwell[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Lennan[/name] (different name totally than [name]Lennon[/name], but both are great options; I prefer the lesser known [name]Lennan[/name])
[name]Quinlan[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Edward[/name]
[name]Sean[/name]

[name]Don[/name]'t lose heart! Your daughters have absolutely beautiful names. I’m sure you can come together to find an equally stunning name for your son.

I pronounce it all-den. My friend’s son is named [name]Alden[/name], that’s how they pronounce it. I really like the name!

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce [name]Lennan[/name] as opposed to [name]Lennon[/name]?

I love [name]Sebastian[/name] so much. My husband claims no self-respecting guy would ever let their child be named that. I think he’s just lacking in good taste!

Awl-den (or all-den) is the proper pronunciation.

I pronounce it ALL-den.

I love the name [name]Alden[/name]! It fits in nicely today but still stands out. I’ve only ever known one person with this name.

Lol, I will be sure to let my husband know he has no self respect lol!
I know an [name]Alden[/name] and love the name.

I only know one [name]Alden[/name], and he pronounces it all-den. His brother’s name is [name]Alaric[/name], like the Visigoth king.

I love [name]Alden[/name]. I would pronounce it All-den since it’s more natural for me to say unless I was corrected.

Other suggestions: [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Cormac[/name], [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Louis[/name]

I actually pronounce them basically the same with a very slight difference in the last syllable “an” as opposed to “un”, but I prefer the way [name]Lennan[/name] looks and the meaning rather than [name]Lennon[/name]'s look and meaning. I love [name]Sebastian[/name] too!! I wonder why your husband thinks that? I seem to recall my husband liking it when we were choosing names, but I could be wrong.
