Alec could work as a nn of:

So I’m considering Alec right now and I want to know if there is any names that could be nick named to Alec that are obvious and I didn’t think of. I don’t want to name my kid with any long form of Alec, but I want to know if people are going to think that it is a nn of a longer name.

I wouldn’t assume a longer name.

If anything, maybe [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Alaric[/name_m].

i’d assume that Alec was the full name

I wouldn’t assume it was a nickname though I wouldn’t be surprised if the full name was [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]

[name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] could work, i personally wouldn’t assume [name_m]Alec[/name_m] to be a nickname.

I know an Alastair who always went by Alec, as well as an Aleksander who went by Alek!

Alaric,Alexander,Laurence,Alicante,Aleksei,Malek(nn Alek),Alcott

I would ask if it was a nickname from a long name but I wouldn’t assume. That’s only because I have an [name_u]Alex[/name_u] from [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
