Aletha, possible with nickname Effie...

We have begun considering [name]Aletha[/name], with the potential to use the nickname [name]Effie[/name], for our daughter.
What do you all think?

I dont think [name]Effie[/name] is a very logical nn for [name]Aletha[/name] though I do know two people named [name]Letha[/name] which would work.

I agree that the nn [name]Effie[/name] doesn’t make a ton of sense for [name]Aletha[/name]–which is gorgeous, btw–I usually think of it working for names with the “fff” sound–[name]Euphemia[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Felicity[/name]/[name]Felicia[/name], etc. Maybe if you used an “F” mn, like [name]Aletha[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]?

I slightly prefer [name]Aletta[/name] or [name]Arietta[/name] to [name]Aletha[/name], but [name]Aletha[/name] is charming and girly and I love it, too.

I agree that [name]Effie[/name] doesn’t seem to follow from [name]Aletha[/name], but I do like both names. I prefer a little more though [name]Althea[/name] because I like [name]Thea[/name] as a nn.

I don’t think [name]Effie[/name] really works as a nn for [name]Aletha[/name], maybe for a name that starts with F?

I agree with everyone! I just cannot even imagine [name]Effie[/name] on [name]Althea[/name]. I love the NN [name]Effie[/name] but [name]Althea[/name] just does not match. What about [name]Josephine[/name] NN [name]Effie[/name]?

I agree with others. [name]How[/name] can [name]Aletha[/name] called by [name]Effie[/name]? It can be [name]Ali[/name], letha, etha, letty, but not effie.
just give her mn related to effie if you insist.
