I really like [name]Alexander[/name], but hate the nickname [name]Alex[/name] because it’s so popular. I like the nickname [name]Xander[/name]/[name]Zander[/name]… but I have questions on pronunciation/spelling!
Are [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Zander[/name] pronounced the same?
is it too weird?
[name]Will[/name] everyone pronounce [name]Xander[/name] incorrectly?
THANKS!
I would pronounce them the same.
Some people have a weird habit of pronouncing X’s though. I doubt it would be a regular problem I think [name]Zander[/name]/[name]Xander[/name] is a pretty common/accepted nickname.
I also really like the nn [name]Ander[/name] for [name]Alexander[/name]. And there’s also [name]Zane[/name]/Xane–but that would have the same problem.
I honestly love the name [name]Alexander[/name] but everyone on here says it’s too popular. [name]Alexander[/name] is a family name, it was my great father’s name and my little cousin is also an [name]Alexander[/name] and I will give one of my son’s it as a middle name. I don’t think there is any need for [name]Alexander[/name] to have a nickname as I prefer it in it’s full glory. My little cousin is always either called [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Pip[/name] (a family nickname that was given to him when he was a baby) or Sache (Like [name]Sasha[/name] but without the A) but [name]Alexander[/name] by children at school and adults. I personally don’t like the nickname [name]Zander[/name] or [name]Xander[/name] at all, too me they just sound trendy.
I know an [name]Alexander[/name] that goes by Lec, which is unique and unexpected, but works.
I love the nickname [name]Xander[/name], and yes - [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Zander[/name] are pronounced the same. Some people will be familiar with [name]Xander[/name] because of [name]Buffy[/name], and I think at this point most everyone has at least heard the name [name]Xander[/name] and would know how to pronounce it.
[name]Xander[/name] is right outside the top 200 as of 2011. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the top 200 when the 2012 stats are released.
I know an [name]Alexander[/name] who goes by [name]Lander[/name]. I always liked it because it wasn’t too far off from [name]Alexander[/name], but not the usual.
I love [name]Alexander[/name], it’s my nephew’s name. I pronounce [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Zander[/name] the same way.
Yeah, I pronounce [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Zander[/name] the same way as well. I think it’s a solid NN option, though I like [name]Ander[/name] even more.
I would pronounce them the same.
What about [name]Alec[/name] or [name]Sasha[/name]? My favorite [name]Alexander[/name] nickname is Lyosha.
Yes, [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Zander[/name] are pronounced the name and no, it’s not too weird. I don’t think many people will pronounce it incorrectly.
I would pronounce them the same. I actually don’t like the nn [name]Zander[/name]/[name]Xander[/name] because it sounds SO trendy. I actually prefer [name]Alex[/name] even though its really popular.
I think [name]Xander[/name] is a great nickname. I know an adult whose name is [name]Alexander[/name] but has always gone by [name]Xander[/name] and it’s made such a common name have an edge. Everyone loves his name. I would say its easy to pronounce as its just [name]Alexander[/name] with out the Ale. He’s never complained about people mispronouncing his name or people thinking his name it too weird. I think it’s a great alternative to the super popular [name]Alex[/name].
I’d pronounce both the same, but prefer [name]Xander[/name].
If you’re not into [name]Alex[/name], how about: [name]Alec[/name], [name]Santo[/name], [name]Sanders[/name], [name]Sander[/name], [name]Sandy[/name], [name]Anders[/name]? Those are my favourites for my #2 boy name
