[name_f]Do[/name_f] you hear it much with young children or in school? I feel like it should be more popular. This is dh’s top name. So I was wondering thoughts on it? I do really like it.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]'s still popular but it’s losing popularity because it’s pretty dated. It was very popular in the 80s and even more in the 90s so most Alexandras are in their late 20s or 30s now. I’d go for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] for a girl born in 2020.
I haven’t heard any one say [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is dated. It’s honoring both of our heritage like [name_f]Marina[/name_f]. We can’t use [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and I’m not caring as much for [name_f]Alessia[/name_f]. Thank you!
I also think it’s kinda dated. It’s a nice enough name, but a bit too plain for me.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]'s far from dated, imo - it’s elegant, regal and quite honestly, a classic name. I think it’s lovely and works nicely with [name_f]Marina[/name_f] (I’m guessing [name_f]Marina[/name_f] is your other daughter?).
I think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is a timeless classic, personally. It’s popularity is waning, but that is a good thing as she likely won’t be one of many Alexandras in her class.
I’ve only met one little [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] in the last few years. It’s a name I find okay and it does have good nn potential as as being versatile
Hmmm… Thank you! I’ve never considered it dated or plain at all. I guess that’s why we all have different tastes ”
Thank you! That’s how I feel too! Yes [name_f]Marina[/name_f] is my younger daughter. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is my older daughter.
I don’t want her to be one of many. So far we haven’t run into any little girls named [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] or [name_f]Marina[/name_f]. In my older daughters dance class everyone seems to have a different first name. No multiples.
Thank you! I want to make sure we find a name that isn’t too popular. We haven’t run into any girls with my daughters names. I have come across far more adults with my oldest daughters name.
I personally don’t know anyone who has a young child named [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. I think it’s a elegant, classic name. I would recommend checking your local statistics.
I think it’s classic and I haven’t encountered one in a long time. It’s a lovely name. My only thought is that [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] shares the -and sound with [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], but if you don’t mind repeating sounds (or even prefer them), I would go for it!
I have checked and it was 120’s for 2018. Not even top 100’s. I also know it’s regional so some cities or states might have more than others.
I don’t mind. They’re still so different that when being called neither will question who I’m calling. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] rarely goes by a nickname. Usually though it’s sissy. Nothing that pertains to her name. [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] would probably go by [name_u]Alex[/name_u]. Maybe [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] depending on the person. Thank you
All the [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]'s I know are in there early 30s but that doesn’t mean it’s dated. I think it goes nicely with her sisters.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is lovely and I would consider it a classic. If you use nicknames, my favourite is [name_u]Lexie[/name_u], and [name_u]Alex[/name_u] is nice but more masculine in sound.
I know a fair number of teenage Alexandras. I think of the name as a timeless classic, along the lines of [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], and don’t consider it dated.
Have to admit, am so tired of [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and its variations I don’t understand why it is still in use: [name_u]Alexi[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Allie[/name_u], [name_f]Ally[/name_f], [name_f]Lexy[/name_f], [name_u]Lexus[/name_u], [name_f]Andra[/name_f], [name_f]Andi[/name_f]. Maybe [name_u]Andrea[/name_u]?
I like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] a lot! I feel like these days, [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] or [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] is more popular for little ones, but [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] feels timeless and international for me! I was almost an [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], so it’s near and dear to my heart. I love [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Marina[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], in particular, would make spectacular sisters!
