[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I am currently writing a story where the main character’s name is [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], and I was hoping for a nickname. I don’t like [name_u]Alex[/name_u], and [name_u]Allie[/name_u] was the first one, now I’m thinking about [name_f]Drea[/name_f]. My character has short brown hair and blue eyes. She is an introvert (hardcore) and a reader and writer. Her favorite TV show is Supernatural, which makes people look at her weird when she says that.
I love [name_f]Drea[/name_f] for your character! I’ve only heard it as a nickname for [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], but [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] works quite well.
What about [name_m]Xan[/name_m]? I think “[name_f]Drea[/name_f]” is too much connected with [name_u]Andrea[/name_u] and it would be like the first name people would think she has. Maybe that’s not problem though. You also could make a nickname for her out of her surname. E.g.: I have a friend whose surname is Vicchiato and we call her [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], but her name is [name_f]Julia[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestions of [name_f]Ria[/name_f] and [name_m]Xan[/name_m]! Other than what’s been suggested, [name_m]Al[/name_m] is the only other thing that comes to mind. I tend to shorten my friends’ names to the first syllable, so that seems like a natural one—it’s easy, but unexpected.
