[name_u]Alfie[/name_u], [name_m]Arnie[/name_m]
I live in the UK, and these are classics but loads of people think theyre old fashioned
I like them, which do you prefer?
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u] isn’t that unheard of for a child, it’s pretty cute. I do agree that both names are quite old fashioned, but that doesn’t make them unusable. I prefer [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] is an adorable nickname
My preference is [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], nickname: [name_u]Alfie[/name_u].
It is refreshing to see both [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] getting some love.
I love [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]!! [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] is very familiar in the UK so I don’t think it feels too old fashioned
I like both [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_m]Arnie[/name_m], but I prefer [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] over [name_m]Arnold[/name_m].
I vastly prefer [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] “[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]”, but [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] is extremely popular in the UK, so if that bothers you, definitely go with [name_m]Arnold[/name_m].
Have you considered [name_m]Albert[/name_m] “[name_m]Albie[/name_m]”, [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]” (also v popular) or [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] “[name_m]Ernie[/name_m]”?
I prefer [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] “[name_m]Arnie[/name_m].”
I adore both! They are both classics with ancient roots and fascinating meanings (“elf counsel” and “eagle power”). [name_m]Arnie[/name_m] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] are both adorable nicknames.
I agree with the PPs that since there are so many little Alfies running around, an [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] “[name_m]Arnie[/name_m]” would be distinctive and refreshing.
I live in the US and can’t fathom either of these names on a baby, BUT in the UK I feel like [name_m]Arnie[/name_m] is much fresher than [name_u]Alfie[/name_u].
I like [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. A nice old-fashioned name. I also prefer the nickname [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] because [name_m]Arnie[/name_m] has too much of a Schwarzenegger association to me
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]/[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]!
Most definitely [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. ALthough it sounds old-fashioned to me, [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] is just downright unattractive.
I find [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] more appealing in sound, but [name_m]Arnold[/name_m]/[name_m]Arnie[/name_m] feels a bit less heard? Neither is especially commo. Currently to my understanding though so I don’t really think that edges [name_m]Arnie[/name_m] ahead.
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] would be my pick. I think is falls on line with other old but familiar and handsome revival names like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].
I prefer [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], but I am a bit eccentric. [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] seems to be the more stylish choice
I prefer [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] to [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] but prefer [name_m]Arnie[/name_m] to [name_u]Alfie[/name_u]. I’m a huge [name_m]Archibald [/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]” lover, so can I suggest that to you?
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is my favorite. To me, it feels less dated than Arnond. Also, [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] makes me think of the animated series Hey [name_m]Arnold[/name_m]!, which I enjoyed as a kid but I don’t think it’s such a great association now.
I have a huge soft spot for [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] and I think it would be much more fresh than [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]/[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]!
I prefer [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]/[name_u]Alfie[/name_u].
I associate [name_m]Arnie[/name_m] with the word ornery, which puts me off it, but that’s a personal thing that may not matter at all to you.
I, like many others, prefer [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. The [name_m]Al[/name_m] sound is crisper and more modern. [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] has a bad taste in my mouth. Not to mention, [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] > [name_m]Arnie[/name_m].
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. He can be [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
