I recently gave birth to a baby named [name]Alice[/name]. I’m already thinking ahead! I love the name [name]Iris[/name] and would like to use this on a future daughter. I’m wondering: are these names usable as a sibling set? Does the similarity of the names pose too much of a problem?
I don’t mind [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] together but since you are thinking ahead what would your third daughters name be? My qualm would be if your third child stuck out like a sore thumb. For example [name]Alice[/name], [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Piper[/name]. [name]Iris[/name] would be a great middle name? That way you would still have a name you love without the similar sounding endings.
Definitely love [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] as a sibset. But I agree, you should look even further ahead. If it were me, I couldn’t do 2 names that end in “s” sound and not continue the pattern. Maybe it’s a little bit of OCD on my part? Perhaps you wouldn’t feel like you were stuck in a pattern, but I certainly would. And being in a pattern isn’t bad, you just need to be prepared for it!
Hmm, interesting feedback. Oddly enough, my partner’s fav’ boy names are [name]Angus[/name] and [name]Francis[/name]. I don’t like these names, though!
For me, they would be too similar. Also, I think that they are hard to say together (if you were calling the children, etc.). However, they are both lovely names!!!
I like both names separately, but not together in a sibset. They both are classic, but the -s ending sound is too similar for my tastes.
It looks like I need a tiebreaker…
I think that [name]Alice[/name], [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name] go very nicely together!
I’m glad you think [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] could work as a sibset!
I think they are both very sweet, vintage & feminine names.
I wouldn’t personally use [name]Iris[/name] as a first name for a second daughter as I feel it sounds to similar and would be confusing when your calling them and they think they hear their name.
Besides this they are both really lovely.
I really love both names but I couldn’t use both together. I would happily take [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] - or [name]Amy[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] - but not [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]. The lis/ris sound is far too close for me.
I do like the two together, when I read them, but when I say them out loud it seems to be a bit trickier unless I enunciate very clearly. And I’d guess that calling one of them would ALWAYS be confusing, since either name could sound like the other from farther away (even a few rooms or to the backyard). And it would make it more difficult to find another girl’s name down the road - I don’t think boys names would be as much of a problem. But, they are both lovely.
That’s my concern. Heh, what if I call to them using their middle names–"[name]Alice[/name] Cordeeeeliiiiaaa"? ([name]Alice[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name].)
