[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there!
I was asking about honour names for my mum ([name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], maiden name [name_m]Gold[/name_m]) and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] was suggested. I’ve always had a soft spot for it, but I think it might just be perfect and I wanted some outside opinions.
In my signature I have:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] because we love it and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is my S/O’s mum’s middle name.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] because I adore it and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] was my mum’s middle name.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] would cover both mothers in one go? [name_f]Mari[/name_f] - [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_m]Gold[/name_m] - my mum’s maiden name?
If I have [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], do I keep [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or would she need a more out there middle name too?
Generally, thoughts on [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]?
(The chances of my S/O actually going for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is very low, but right now these children are hypothetical future babies - I might end up with all boys!)
I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is very pretty and it does cover both mothers. I much prefer it to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] does look a bit plain next to it but not overly plain considering everyone would just know them as [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], which sound wonderful together.
I adore [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. It’s so sweet and classic, but unique. [name_u]Love[/name_u] that about it. I’m obsessed with it.
It definitely covers both mothers in one go. It has both your SO’s mum’s middle name and your mum’s maiden name, which I think they’ll both feel very honored.
You might want to find something a little bit more unique for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but it’s not a requirement. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] sound great together, and they won’t use their full name often enough to make a change if you can’t find anything you love as much as [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a great solution for a double honouring, definitely works.
I don’t think so. I do love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as is, so I might be biased, but I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] make fine sisters.
I really like it. A nice mix of classic and whimsical first, with a vintage, quirky, and more unsual nature middle.
I’m swooning over [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], it’s honestly fantastic. One of my favorite combos I’ve seen in a while.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are beautiful together. I think you’ve found a great way to honor 2 important people within one name.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is wonderful!
To me, it definitely honours both mothers, though you have to decide if it’s what you’re looking for/how you want to honour them.
I agree with the previous posters. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is gorgeous! That’s such a lovely combo and does a great job as an honor name. I don’t really see a problem with also using [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I don’t know that I consider matching to be that important for siblings. Good luck!
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a great way to honor both mothers!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! To me [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is a bit spicy while [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is soft and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is spicy while [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is soft. It balances out nicely!
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a perfect way to honour both mothers, lucky you that there’s a name that works to do that! I really like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], and it works beautifully with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. All four names have a vintage/classic yet current, British vibe. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are more spunky while [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are more serious, so the combos feel balanced.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] would cover both mothers in one go? [name_f]Mari[/name_f] - [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_m]Gold[/name_m] - my mum’s maiden name?
Yes, I definitely think it would.
If I have [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], do I keep [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or would she need a more out there middle name too?
No, I don’t think you should replace [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sound lovely together.
Generally, thoughts on [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]?
Well, I guess I was the first to suggest [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], so I obviously love it. It’s sort of universal, as it sounds great with a lot of names. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] sounds and looks very pretty.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is beautiful, and it ticks all your boxes. I wouldn’t change [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - again just gorgeous and would be lovely with sister’s name.
