My husband and I are going back and forth between [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. I love older names and these are two of my favorite.
I think [name_f]Celia[/name_f] sounds a bit prettier, but also wonder if people will think of celiac.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is cute but I have a harder time coming up with a middle name for it.
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] myself. I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is beautifully timeless, and while [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is nice, I do find it to be quite dated. I also enjoy the quirky vibe of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] due to the ‘[name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland’ association.
I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] works best with middles that are either three-syllables or a single-syllable, and are spunky/a little less common, such as [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Honora[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Athena[/name_f] (alliteration seems to work really well, too).
I prefer [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] has plain [name_f]Jane[/name_f] vibes to me. I love the sound and meaning of [name_f]Celia[/name_f] “heavenly.” [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is vintage but still fresh and unique.
I really like both names. I am an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland fan, but personally favour [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. I’m biased though I s’pose, as [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is my mum’s name and daughter’s middle.
I thought it was so interesting that these names share the same letters but are so different!
Your surname may make a difference too. I originally had [name_f]Alice[/name_f] on my list, but just doesn’t flow with my [name_u]Lee[/name_u] surname.
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (and I love the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland association) and love the suggestion of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]! Others that I think would be lovely are [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f].
Both are great names. You can’t go wrong. I do slightly prefer [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. I don’t think it sounds too close to celiac.
You could also use the longer version [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] and use nickname [name_f]Celia[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. It is one of my favorite names. I love the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in the Wonderland connection. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is an international, delicate and romantic name. Nowadays, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a popular choice among the royal families.
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] is a great name too! I think it is a fabulous choice for [name_f]Alice[/name_f]'s sister because these names are anagrams.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is much prettier imo, and more timeless too.
I like [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] but [name_f]Celia[/name_f] by itself feels outdated but not old fashioned enough to come back yet, if you know what I mean.
My vote goes to [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. It doesn’t make me think of celiac, but I do think ‘silly [name_f]Celia[/name_f]’, which I realise might be something only I would say lol.
Plus, [name_f]Cece[/name_f] is a super cute nn.
They’re both very pretty, but [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is way more interesting. At least in my area (midwest US), I hear [name_f]Alice[/name_f] a lot. And I don’t care for [name_u]Allie[/name_u], which is possibly somewhat unavoidable. [name_f]Celie[/name_f] is sweet though, if that nick-name were to appear.
If you do stick w/[name_f]Alice[/name_f], how about…
Maybe [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] pronounced Ahlees see a. Would be a possibility: can call her [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Celia[/name_f], and could let her choose when she is older: [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Francine[/name_f].
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] without a doubt, it’s so beautifully timeless! Some middle name suggestions (sorry for repeats just putting what I like the sound of):
If it helps, my name is [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and no one’s ever brought up the ‘celiac’ association.
Both names are nice, but I like that [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is more unique and less tied to a specific thing ([name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland)
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] would be my choice. [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] (uh-lee-see-uh) would be the compromise. I suppose [name_f]Alecia[/name_f] makes the pronunciation more obvious still.
