Alice or Eloise?

We cannot decide between [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] for our fourth and final baby

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] sister to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

I have always had [name_f]Alice[/name_f] on my list and love the literary connections and regal feel. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a newcomer to the list for this baby and I love the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]

Which would you choose and why?

We also have no idea about middle names (we haven’t typically used family names and I don’t intend to start). Possibilities include [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], Florence,Olivia. I’m open to any suggestions!

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to [name_f]Alice[/name_f], since you’ve always loved that name and goes will with your children’s name!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite middle from your list are; [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Clair[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].

Some suggestions:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

Personally, I would choose [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
I prefer the sound and imagery of this name, and I think it fits best with your other children’s names.

From your middle name options my favourite is [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

Some other suggestions:
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]

However I think if you have always loved [name_f]Alice[/name_f], then maybe that is the best choice.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]!

I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] fits slightly better with your sibset :sparkling_heart:

Another vote for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! She fits wonderfully with your other kids’ names and she feels really sweet and lively!

I would choose [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. It is so sparkly and bubbly but yet still serious and elegant. I have never liked [name_f]Alice[/name_f], sorry. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname Elle!! all of your middle choices would work. I would probably choose
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or another name that ends in a because your other girls middles end in a.
Other suggestions :

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] is perfect for you!!!

So hard to choose! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is more delicate to me, while [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is mischievous. I think I would choose [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] as the best match with her siblings, but I truly adore them both. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]!

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] sounds more beautiful to me, both alone and with her siblings! :sparkles:

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] :purple_heart:

Honestly you can’t go wrong.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

Alice!! Though both are lovely.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] has a nice ring to it. I think a longer name would work best.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Charlize[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] would be gorgeous. It goes perfectly with your other names and you’ve loved it for ages.

I would choose [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. I like it best with your other children’s names. I like the the continuity of all the names having the letter O.

For a middle name I like…
Phoeb3 Ameli@, Osc@r J@mes, Ros3 Matild@ and
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ana[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f]

Since [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is already three syllables I wouldn’t make the middle name any more than two syllables. I like the idea of it ending in the letter A like her sisters’ middle names.

I would go with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! (…even though [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is beautiful too…)

I agree with you about the literary link, and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sounds ideal with your sibset!

Re middles: [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] has a lovely clear, cool sound to it; [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] has a smooth, elegant flow; [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sounds beautifully historical; [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] balances nicely with your other girls’ middles.

Overall, I think I’d vote for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]!

I would have a really hard time choosing as well since I absolutely love both names  I think both go well with your kids’ names. Phoebe & Eloise are cute together, and Alice & Rose compliment each other! Both go really well with Oscar!

Because my daughter is Cl@ra El0ise, I think I’d have to pick Eloise, perhaps even Eloise Clare haha! I also love Eloise Violet

Alice is super cute though too, and I would pick it for a child in a heartbeat. My relative just named her daughter Ali¢e Cl@re, and I think it’s so cute! I also really like Alice Florence

Part of why we chose Eloise as a middle instead of a first name is we couldn’t see ourselves using it as an everyday name. I don’t know why, but we just couldn’t picture ourselves saying it all day. I doubt you’re in the same boat, but if you are and have a hard time seeing yourself actually using one or the other on a child, maybe that can help you decide  Advice I’ve heard a lot is referring to the baby by each name for a day or two each to see how they feel.

One other thing I just thought of. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] have the same -z ending sound in my accent. If that’s something that would bother you, that’s another thing to consider. It’s hardly noticable, and not something that I would personally mind, but I know some people like different beginnings and endings for each child.

I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! Feels more unique, since [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is so popular right now.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - strong but sweet and lovely.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would be great!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] came to mind
