I think my favourite girls name is [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] but I still like to compare it with my other favourites. [name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] compare with [name_f]Alice[/name_f], which do you prefer and why?
While I like both [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] a lot, I think I slightly prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], it has a more sing-songy appeal and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is becoming awfully popular these days, seems like I’m hearing it everywhere!
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I like that it’s a classic name, it’s soft and has a gentle sound to it. It’s lyrical and literary and tends to play well with other names. I dislike [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], it’s shrill to my ears. It sounds like an annoying syllable in a language or song that one finds grating.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f], biblical, classic, pretty. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is good too though.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]! I think it’s cute!
I want to like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] more than I do (it’s my great grandmother’s name), but it seems bland to me. I definitely prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
I can’t even say, I love both names. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is beautiful and lyrical sounding, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a beautiful sounding classic. I slightly prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] because it’s my niece’s name.
I really like both, and they both have their own pros and cons, at least for me. I really love that they have literary associations, but I vastly prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] from [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland, to [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] in Pride and Prejudice. But on the other hand, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is quite normal and popular where I live, whilst [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is a little more interesting, strong/feisty and unusual (to me anyway). Overall, I think I’d have to go with [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], but [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would make great sibling names, or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]/ [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would be a nice combo.
Its tough, cause both are lovely but I think I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] the best. I dont know why though…
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f], i’ve never liked [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] personally for whatever reason. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is very sweet and timeless
I like both but prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I love the connection with the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland books.
I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I like a lot of simple, older names that I compare to [name_f]Alice[/name_f], like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], etc…I find [name_f]Alice[/name_f] a little boring, and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is one of my favorites
Both are beautiful, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is one of my favorites!
I adore these names! [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] was and has been my favorite name; however, my husband veto’d it. I think it’s darling. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is very cute and was on my list too, but I could not get over the [name_u]Brady[/name_u] Bunch references.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] wins for me.
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I think its sweet and classic. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] feels harsh to me
I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I appreciate the soft sound of the name, it’s very pretty. I’ve never been a fan of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] though, so I’m biased.
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f], as [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] always feels a bit hard to me, and I’ve known way more [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]'s, so [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels that little bit more unusual.
I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I like the Bibilical ties and the sophisication that the name gives. I also like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as well.
Thanks for the great responses everyone, middle name would most likely be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Any more thoughts?
[name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]!!! I can’t use [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as my son is [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is one of my favorite girl names. I like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] too, but I would prefer to see [name_f]Alice[/name_f] used. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] works well
