Alice vs Eloise?

I’d love to get some opinions on which of these you like better [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Eloise[/name]? I’ve been pretty focused on trying to work out which one fits best with our son’s name…which one goes best with our chosen middle name…which one goes best with our last name…which one has best potential for future siblings…which one is too popular…etc

I’d [name]LOVE[/name] to know purely and simply which one people prefer as a stand alone name.

Thanks.

[name]Eloise[/name] definatly. Its more interesting, [name]Alice[/name] is just plain imo

I like [name]Alice[/name] and I’m not a fan of [name]Eloise[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] is popular but classic, lovely…

They’re both nice but [name]Alice[/name] is what I prefer, basically just on taste, no strong reason.

I love [name]Eloise[/name] because

  1. [name]Eloise[/name] has better nicknames, [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Ella[/name], [name]Elle[/name], and as a big stretch [name]Liesl[/name].

  2. [name]Eloise[/name] is happier. [name]Alice[/name], I agree is a beautiful name, but [name]Eloise[/name] sounds so much more modern and fun.

  3. The books! [name]Eloise[/name] At the Plaza are wonderful cute little books you can read to her! And it’s nice having the same name as a favorite story book character.

These were my two favorite names a year ago. I hope I helped and good luck!

Personally, I prefer [name]Alice[/name]. As said above, it is a classic name that will stand the test of time and age well, [name]IMO[/name]

I prefer [name]Eloise[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] is becomming extremely popular.

I prefer [name]Alice[/name]. I don’t think [name]Alice[/name] (at least, in the US! I’m not sure where you are) is any more popular than [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name] is shooting up the charts. I love the sweet, happy, girly, subdued feel of [name]Alice[/name]. Maybe it’s because I feel that everyone and their mom loves [name]Eloise[/name] and I really don’t, haha (or it could be because of the [name]Eloise[/name] who ruined it for me!), but it seems like [name]Eloise[/name] is pushy and too sugary-sweet. I do love [name]Eloise[/name]'s nns (particularly [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Lola[/name]), but I would pick [name]Alice[/name] over [name]Eloise[/name] any day!

Good luck!

I like [name]Eloise[/name] a lot better than [name]Alice[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] is sweet and cute but doesn’t have the character that [name]Eloise[/name] has, impo. [name]Eloise[/name] is one of my top names. I do worry that it will get super popular though, as it did jump 400 spots last year alone! I will have to see what this year will bring in terms of popularity. But really, that’s the only major thing holding me back from putting this name as number one. I think it’s a sweet name and love the [name]Eloise[/name] at the Plaza reference. The only minor thing that holds me back is the “wheeze” sound. [name]Just[/name] something to think about, but I 100% like [name]Eloise[/name] over [name]Alice[/name]!

I adore [name]Alice[/name]. I think it’s such a gorgeous name that could fit just about anyone at any age. If popularity matters, I would suggest going with [name]Eloise[/name], because I can see [name]Alice[/name] rising much higher on the popularity lists than [name]Eloise[/name] as more of the old-fashioned names come back.

I really like them both, but [name]Eloise[/name] would get my vote… I just find it a tad fresher and more interesting than [name]Alice[/name].

[name]Eloise[/name] is much more original and offers better nns.

[name]Alice[/name]. But they’re both lovely.

Best wishes!

I agree - [name]Eloise[/name] is so pretty!

I think [name]Eloise[/name] is sweet. It’s feminine and more interesting then [name]Alice[/name].

[name]Alice[/name]. It’s my oldest daughter’s name. It’s classic, feminine without being frilly, and can work for a girl or woman of any age.

I think [name]Eloise[/name] is nice, but I’m not crazy about the “[name]Louise[/name]” part of the name. I realize that variations of this name are coming back into style (like [name]Louisa[/name]), but [name]Louise[/name] and anything that sounds similar to this sound very dated to me. Plus, the potential nickname, “[name]Ellie[/name],” is actually very popular since there so many names that begin with the “[name]El[/name]” sound.

[name]Alice[/name], by far. It has so much more class than [name]Eloise[/name], in my opinion. [name]Eloise[/name] seems faddy and insubstantial. However, I prefer [name]Aloisa[/name] to both!

I agree with these^

I agree with twilighter, tristan, and caroline147! I don’t like the Lo(u)ise of [name]Eloise[/name], and it seems faddy and has very little class (to me). [name]Eloise[/name] has been getting nicer to me lately, so I might consider it for a future character (but not a kid).

I love them both but prefer [name]Alice[/name], which I think is so classic and beautiful sounding. Agree that if you’re most concerned with popularity you should choose [name]Eloise[/name] because I think [name]Alice[/name] will always be more popular.
