Should I add this to my list? I know it’s rising fast but how high will it go? I like that it’s a core classic and DH likes that it was his grandmother’s middle name.
We’ve been having a difficult time settling on a girl’s name for a potential daughter (not expecting yet). My other kids are [name]Paul[/name], [name]Clare[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Katharine[/name], and [name]James[/name]. When I named [name]Katharine[/name] I thought she’d go by [name]Kate[/name]. She ended up [name]Katie[/name] and I was stunned to find Katies everywhere. Over the past year she’s been transitioning to [name]Katharine[/name] full time. She introduces herself as [name]Katharine[/name] and even my dh has finally begun calling her that. We’ve been talking about using [name]Grace[/name] for a future girl but that name is pretty ubiquitous here and I’m afraid I’m setting myself up for a repeat except this time I won’t have a full name to fall back on like I did for [name]Katie[/name].
Finally, our last name is Tys0n and I keep liking first names with strong “s” sounds. Does [name]Alice[/name] Tys0n work?
I’m not sure about [name]Alice[/name]. I don’t see her becoming mega popular, but I don’t think she’ll stay in the shadows much longer either. Looking at the past few years, she’s made some big jumps on the SSA charts.
If she doesn’t enter the top 100 in 2012, then definitely in 2013. That aside, [name]Alice[/name] is a sweet classic that goes wonderfully with [name]Paul[/name], [name]Clare[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Katharine[/name], and [name]James[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] Tys0n sounds fine; it’s a nice name.
I love [name]Alice[/name] and think it goes beautifully with your other children’s names. However, it does seem to be climbing up that chart.
Looking at your signature, i like [name]Mary[/name], then [name]Anne[/name], then [name]Lucy[/name]. [name]Every[/name] other kid i meet is named [name]Anna[/name] though :-/
Have you thought about [name]Jane[/name], [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Ruthie[/name]?
[name]Alice[/name] is on the rise, but I don’t think it’s top 50 material - it doesn’t have the broad appeal that other “core classics” have and it goes so well with your other children’s names.
I actually like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Alice[/name], as long as it’s not to ess-ey for you. I have a dear family friend named [name]Alice[/name] so personally I don’t really care about the popularity factor, besides I think it’s classic enough that, like [name]Mary[/name], it’ll always be considered a sweet, solid name. [name]Alice[/name] works with all your other children’s names, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
You have my style down - [name]Rose[/name] I used as a middle name for [name]Katharine[/name]. [name]Anna[/name] is not a favorite of mine - that’s dh’s choice. I adore [name]Jane[/name] and it would be absolutely #1 except I have a son [name]James[/name]. I really like [name]Ruth[/name] as well but dh doesn’t at all.
I was reassured that there were only 45 baby Alices born in my state last year compared to 182 Graces.
I’m excited by this new option. I feel like stylistically it falls between Grace and Lucy which have been two of our top choices.
I have daughters named [name]Alice[/name], [name]Mary[/name] (goes by [name]Molly[/name]), [name]Jane[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name]. I think [name]Alice[/name] goes really well with your other children’s names.
