These names have both been on my radar for quite some time now, and I’m finding both increasingly attractive. However, I wonder in [name]Alida[/name]'s case if the name has enough substance to it. Also wonder if [name]Althea[/name] would cause pronunciation problems…
I have a friend named [name]Alida[/name] and I like it a lot-- it seems to wear well! I think [name]Althea[/name] is good too, and while I don’t think pronunciation will be a problem, I’m sure people will have problems spelling it (because people are just poor spellers nowadays-- my niece, [name]Charlotte[/name], has her name spelled wrong all the time!).
I don’t know how anyone could mispronounce [name]Althea[/name]. There is either the American way or the Italian/Spanish way. I guess the British might say Ahl-thea instead of [name]Al[/name]-thea. It’s the Latin name of the [name]Rose[/name] of [name]Sharon[/name] bush which blooms all summer long along the [name]East[/name] Coast and I think it’s a lovely name. It was the middle name of my mother-in-law, who often said she wished she’d been called [name]Althea[/name] rather than her first name ([name]Beulah[/name]).
I’ve never met an [name]Alida[/name] who wasn’t Hispanic. It would be nice to see this name become more mainstream here, as it is also very pretty.
I don’t really care for [name]Alida[/name] myself. It’s all right, but it sounds like a brand of mops or vacuums or something.
I like [name]Althea[/name] though! There was a town in the province of Spain where I used to live called [name]Altea[/name]. It’s lovely there! I think it’s a nice name.
My co-worker a few years back was [name]Althea[/name]! No one had trouble pronouncing it
[name]Alida[/name] is pretty…but [name]Althea[/name] has more personality.
I love [name]Althea[/name]. It’s a Grateful Dead song & it’s sweet & pld fashioned but [name]Al[/name]- names are familiar and [name]Thea[/name] is familiar enough. Nn [name]Allie[/name] is a cute possibility. I really like that it’s uncommon.
[name]Alida[/name] I am not familiar with. I like [name]Lita[/name] or [name]Leda[/name] but I am not into it"s [name]Alicia[/name] type sound. I’ve known an Alitha. These names sound kind of like a mispronounced [name]Alisha[/name]
