What is your opinion on the name [name_f]Alison[/name_f] for a baby girl born in 2025. [name_f][/name_f] Also, do you think the initials AH would be problematic or embarrassing?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the name [name_f]Alison[/name_f] sounds dated? [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Sister[/name_f] is named [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] which also peaked in the 90s/2000s, so I don’t know if the sibset makes it sound more out of place for a 2025 baby.

I am also open to the spelling [name_f]Allison[/name_f] if you think that is better.
[name_f][/name_f]
Thank you so much!

[name_f]Michaela[/name_f] & [name_f]Alison[/name_f] are sweet together! [name_f]Alison[/name_f] may sound a little dated, but not overly so, and with all the vintage names coming back into style I don’t think anyone would question a modern [name_f]Alison[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]I have a friend with the initials AH, and she’s never had a problem / been embarrassed.
Thank you for your response. [name_f][/name_f] Which decade would you say [name_f]Alison[/name_f] is dated to and what country are you in?
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]My[/name_f] concern with AH is that it may make people think of a$$hole
It took me really trying to see what was wrong with AH to realize what you were thinking of so I think you’re fine there.
[name_f][/name_f]I really like [name_f]Alison[/name_f]. It has a bit of a retro feel but not to the point where I think it would be a bad choice for a modern baby. [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] and [name_f]Alison[/name_f] go great together.

Ok that’s great that you didn’t immediately think of a-hole lol.

In the US, and if I had to pick I’d say 90’s but its not strongly tied to a specific decade for me, more just a general feeling of not being currently trendy which is why I think it still works today.
[name_f]Alison[/name_f] for me is primarily 90s/early 2000s. I didn’t think of a-hole at all when you said AH!
I think it would be refreshing to meet a little [name_f]Alison[/name_f] in 2025! It goes well with her sister’s name.
[name_f][/name_f]Both my husband and my son have the initials AH and I have never even thought about it until just now. Lol
I think [name_f]Alison[/name_f] goes well with [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]. I don’t think the initials are a big deal [name_f][/name_f]- my brother’s initials are AH and it’s literally never crossed anyone’s mind.
Ok that is great. [name_f][/name_f] I just don’t want it to be like naming a kid in the 1990s [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] or [name_f]Donna[/name_f] … like solidly a “mom name” (in my generation anyway)

I’m glad that the initials AH do not seem to be a big deal lol

I don’t mind [name_f]Alison[/name_f]! It’s familiar but not popular these days and nickname [name_m]Ali[/name_m] is cute!

I don’t think AH is too problematic
I looked up the US statistics to see and I definitely think you’re safe from mom name territory. The [name_f]Alison[/name_f] spelling did have its highest point of popularity in the late 80’s but even at it’s highest it barely broke the top 100 so it wasn’t like some names where there were so many that now tons of a modern Alison’s peers would have moms with the name, and the rise and fall to get there were pretty slow so it wasn’t a fad that had a really specific spike in just a few years.
[name_f][/name_f]The [name_f]Allison[/name_f] spelling is more popular but has been consistently in the top 100 for about 50 years so even though it was more popular 20/25 years ago than it is now its still decently in use now and was in use for awhile before then so it wouldn’t seem out place on a wide range of ages including newborn. And again, the highest rank that spelling hit was in the mid thirties which is pretty popular but not crazy 5 girls in every class kind of popular, and it wobbled in and out of the thirties for about 20 years so the age groups with the most Allisons rang from middle schoolers to 30s so I definitely think its not dated.
[name_f]Alison[/name_f] sounds refreshing nowadays! It’s a nice name. Sweet and gentle. [name_f]Allison[/name_f] is a beautiful spelling as well. I can’t see anything wrong with the initials AH.
[name_f]Alison[/name_f] doesn’t really feel dated to me- I know several Alisons of school age! [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] (I love this spelling!) [name_f][/name_f] and [name_f]Alison[/name_f] feel well-matched and sweet together.
[name_f][/name_f]I also don’t see anything wrong with the initials AH-it just reminds me of “a-ha!” which isn’t a bad connection to have!
[name_f]My[/name_f] initials are AH [name_f][/name_f]- never had any problems with it!!
[name_f][/name_f]worst I’ve gotten is friends jokingly going “ahhhhh” (like a scream) when seeing my initials😅
[name_f][/name_f]
I’d be pleasantly surprised to see a baby [name_f]Alison[/name_f], I think! Very sweet name. Matches perfectly with [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]. While I’d normally think they sounded dated together, I think there’s a charm to it actually!!
my step-aunt is alli hagendorf and she’s done pretty well for herself so
Thank you so much for looking into those stats for me!
