Good evening!
So now we are down to two choices: Alita and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. We love both of the names and just can’t decide on one!
Reasons:
Alita: simple, sweet, uncommon, starts with the same letter as her brother. But we are afraid that people might associate it with the movie (which is a fantastic movie).
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]: great meaning, cute, rare, has [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] as a nice nn. But we feel like it’s a bit too long, which will be kind of hard for us because we want her to have a nn that only her close friends & family calls her and just go by her full name in front of othe people.
So what do you guys think? [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] or Alita?
Both are very pretty, but I prefer [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. Regardless if it’s a great movie, I feel naming a baby Alita right now is too coincidental unless you explicitly are using the name because of the movie. I also prefer the spelling [name_f]Alida[/name_f], since the t isn’t really pronounced in the name anyway. I’m a fan of [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] because it’s familiar but uncommon, and I like the nickname [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] for it.
While both options are quite sweet, I much prefer the look and sound of [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] has so many beautiful sounds and I don’t think it’s too long at all [–as you can probably tell by my signature, 3-4 syllable names happen to be my favourite!] [name_f]Sera[/name_f], PhiPhi, [name_f]Nina[/name_f], and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] are all cute nickname options!
While both are lovely, I’d go with Alita. It’s spunky, bright, beautiful, and even more unique than [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. I really love its sound, and the sibling alliteration.
Both names are very nice. I think your daughter will have nicknames and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] has so many options. You could use [name_m]Seraphim[/name_m] as it is a bit shorter and has fewer obvious nns. I think I prefer [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] to Alita.
I think [name_f]Leda[/name_f] and [name_f]Lita[/name_f] will become more popular.
I like both very much, but I think I would go with Alita. It’s pretty, simple, and short. I honestly would not let the movie association bother you. [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is really nice too, but I feel like I hear it everywhere which is beginning to lose its appeal to me. Either way, you can’t go wrong with either.
Ahhh we’re so stuck!!!
Why is nobody replying…
I’d go with Alita even though people will most likely think you named her after the movie. You might have known the name and liked it for a while but let’s be honest- the movie pushed you into using it now. I see this happening all the time. I suspect Alita will make a minor jump in popularity after the movie.
I love the meaning of Alita and after watching the movie it’s grown to be one of my favorite names.
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is also in my top 10. [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is most definitely not rare, it’s actually quite popular.
I prefer Alita to [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. [name_u]Ali[/name_u], [name_f]Lita[/name_f], & [name_u]Lee[/name_u] are cute nickname options.

This amount of responses is usual on NB and bumping threads continuously aren’t going to make people reply more.
What movie is Alita from? I much prefer it over [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], and it seems as if you do too, and the only thing holding you back is this movie.
Ok, now I just looked up the name and saw what movie is the problem. Here’s the way I see it: Alita is uncommon, but it is not an out there name in terms of sounds. Yes, she might be associated with it to begin with, but by the time she is in school or even a teenager, it will be a thing of the past. This movie doesn’t scream ‘timeless’ to me, and in the long run, people are likely not going to remember it. Children her age probably will not have even seen it. My two cents.
Ok guys, thanks for helping us and we finally decided on Alita, and made [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] her middle name. Thanks a lot!
