I am thinking of naming my second daughter [name]Aliyah[/name]. My first daughters name is [name]Lilyana[/name] and our last name is very Italian with 4 syllables, ending with an A. My husbands pick is [name]Luciana[/name], but I think it’s too similar to [name]Lilyana[/name].
Please let me know what you think…Thank you for your thoughts!
I think they are both too close to [name]Lilyana[/name]. At first glance [name]Aliyah[/name] looks even closer to [name]Lilyana[/name] than [name]Luciana[/name]. What about just [name]Lucia[/name]? Or [name]Amaya[/name] or [name]Amalia[/name]?
Because of the Y in “[name]Aliyah[/name]” it seems even closer to [name]Lilyana[/name] for me.
I agree with emsky, when I say them together it’s a bit of a tongue-twister.
Yes, both are too close to [name]Lilyana[/name]. [name]Both[/name] would be a tounge-twister.
Agree. [name]Both[/name] are too close to [name]Lilyana[/name] for a sibset.
I prefer [name]Luciana[/name] to [name]Aliya[/name]. Feels much more distinct from [name]Lilyana[/name].
[name]Aliya[/name] reads as a very Arabic name to me, and I think it became trendy because of [name]Aaliyah[/name] the musician… Not a bad thing at all, but definitely a more modern, possibly trendy, choice.
[name]Luciana[/name] (or [name]Lucia[/name], which is even further from [name]Lilyana[/name]) would probably sound great with an Italian surname.
I met a Lusmina “LoosMEEnah.” Thought it was a beautiful name, though too frilly for me. Means “flower of light” (lus- light, mina- flower)
I totally love the name [name]Aliyah[/name]! I don’t think it would be a problem at all. I also don’t think [name]Aliyah[/name] is similar to [name]Lilyana[/name]. (nn’s [name]Aly[/name] & [name]Lily[/name])
I also love [name]Luciana[/name] and think it would go well with [name]Lilyana[/name] too ([name]Lucy[/name] & [name]Lily[/name]) too cute! (although I prefer [name]Aliyah[/name])
I think the names are too similar. And I went to school with an [name]Aliyah[/name] for all of middle school and most of high school, and every teacher had a really hard time pronouncing her name.
I agree with previous posters who suggested [name]Lucia[/name]. [name]Lilyana[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] are lovely.
