i’ve been crushing on her lately!
i want to know people’s thoughts on it, both with some of my other favorites atm (amadea and desmond, either as an existing sibset or on their own) and middle name suggestions.
i feel like she’s still seen as kind of old-fashioned but i think she’s charming.
I love Ernestine!! I’ve been thinking of using her as a sister to my combo [name_m]Philbert[/name_m] [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] [name_m]James[/name_m].
as a middle I have [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] is so charming and looks gorgeous next to [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] :))) [name_f]Ernestina[/name_f] is quite popular for younger people where I’m from, so the image I have of [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] is similar to what I have for [name_f]Ernestina[/name_f]: youthful, bright, energetic, and warm!
A few middles that came to mind:
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] is clunky cool and unexpected, endearing and quietly playful. It feels slightly children’s storybook too! Plus, nickname options [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_m]Ernie[/name_m], [name_f]Estee[/name_f], [name_f]Nettie[/name_f], Nina…
I can see it with [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] and [name_m]Desmond[/name_m]!
Some middles:
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (Mauve)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (Aura)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (Penelope)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Luella[/name_f] (Winter)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] (Opal)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] (Aurelia)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_m]Winslow[/name_m] (Sierra)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Vita[/name_f] (Amelie)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_m]Kestrel[/name_m] (Genevieve)
I think she’s very old-fashioned, but cute! It reminds me of one of the daughters in the book Cheaper By The Dozen, which I adore.
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] (the two go together well as a combo)
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
I absolutely LOVE [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f], such a clunky-cute name! I sort of imagine her quietly reading storybooks with a soft smile on her face before happily joining her sibling(s) for some play.
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] would make a lovely pair; [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] is slightly more unexpected alongside the two, but still an interesting possibility!
Middle name ideas:
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
It does fit with your other choices (which are quite lovely, btw!) but I have a hard time picturing [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] on anyone but a frumpy grandmother. It’s just… very old fashioned.
Honestly I love grandma/grandpa names for babies!! Especially the ones that have not come back into trend! [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] would grow well too, with a lot of great nickname options. I think all of your favorites would make a cohesive sibset
I think you’ve awoken a new name crush in me, because I can’t stop thinking about [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] ever since I saw this post. At first, I was like, “Oh, that’s interesting.” But [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] is like a fresher version of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], both names I absolutely loved at once point but have gotten a but oversaturated for me (and theres the “oh my darlin’” and evangelical references, which aren’t quite me).
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] makes me think of [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] and honesty and loyalty. I love potential nicknames [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or even [name_f]Fern[/name_f] at a stretch. A [name_f]Fable[/name_f] [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] called [name_f]Fern[/name_f] would be beyond adorable.
For middle names that go with [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f], I think short and sweet or notably more modern/quirky.
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] / [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Fable[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] / [name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Eisele[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f] [name_f]Hera[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Emmadine[/name_f] or [name_f]Eglantine[/name_f], but I see the appeal.
