Seriously [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. It is cute but strong and handsome, classic and oldmanish. But I don’t like it much as a full name. The only name I can think of to get to [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]. But my fiance is not on board with [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] and I am sure I would get a lot of strange looks in my family if I mentioned that name (nothing new there, as I like names they don’t hear every day anyways, but [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] would be a stretch, even for me).
Personally, I like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. But wondering if there are other ways to get to the nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]?!
Also wondering, thoughts on [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]? My fiance just sees the “bald” part, which I admit, isn’t my favorite segment of the name, either, but not ALL I see. But is this name even usable? Too old? Thoughts?
I absolutely love [name_m]Archie[/name_m]! It’s just so annoyingly popular here it’s had to go on the GP list. I have [name_m]Artemus[/name_m] as a possible full name for [name_m]Archie[/name_m], or maybe [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]? I like the pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Archer[/name_m] too (it’s really been growing on me recently). I’m not really a fan of [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] either, it’s just that -bald syllable, and it sounds a bit disjointed I guess, when I say it aloud (probably because I’m so used to [name_m]Archie[/name_m]). But who knows, it could work.
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] is very cute. I personally would use [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. Although I prefer [name_m]Arch[/name_m] as a nickname, if I were to use a nickname. I could see [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]” working, although a bit of a stretch. Or you could just use [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. [name_m]Archie[/name_m] has been a stand alone for a long time.
haha, I like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], too. It sort of seems in the same vein as [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], which I equally adore! I think [name_m]Archer[/name_m] works well, though. Other than that, I can’t really think of anything (minus Monarch, which is one occupation name I wouldn’t suggest giving to anyone! :)).
Thanks for the suggestions! I am not the biggest fan of [name_m]Archer[/name_m]… just doesn’t seem ‘full’ enough for me? Or maybe too trendy? I’m not sure. [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]/[name_m]Artemus[/name_m] is actually quite intriguing! I am going to mull over that one for a bit
Is [name_m]Archie[/name_m] on its own too nicknamey?
I think [name_m]Archie[/name_m] on it’s own is your best choice! I, like you, love [name_m]Archie[/name_m], but none of the names it could go with. I have the same problem with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]: love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], hate [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. So, months of contemplating later, I’ve decided just [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is what I would use.
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] full names:
Anything that starts with Ar would be acceptable [name_f]IMO[/name_f] - [name_m]Aries[/name_m], [name_m]Arjun[/name_m], [name_m]Arledge[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Arvel[/name_m] etc. It would be even better if it was followed by a CH middle - like [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Christian[/name_m], [name_u]Chase[/name_u], or [name_m]Chad[/name_m]. [name_m]Aries[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]” (not as good because [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (and [name_m]Christian[/name_m]) doesn’t have the Ch sound, it has the hard C). [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]”. [name_m]Arjun[/name_m] [name_m]Chad[/name_m].
My favourite would be [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]”. I also really like [name_m]Aries[/name_m].
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] is cute. The only name I can think of besides [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is [name_u]March[/name_u]. I think [name_u]March[/name_u] nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m] would be cute.
