Allegra or Imogen and what middle name?

I hate to repeat my my post but 2 months on and 1 week until my little miss arrives, we still can’t decide on a name for her. My husband doesn’t love either name, but will agree in the end if we could only find a middle name for either one.
As our surname is [name]Barrett[/name], I feel we may need a one syllable middle name??
It’s really important to me to have a unique, strong but elegant first name and I think [name]Imogen[/name] and allegra fit this, but would love to hear what other people think. I think I am getting commitment issues on both and need some external feedback please.
The other names I like are
Many thanks to any feedback

I love [name]Imogen[/name], I think that’s a great name that covers “different” but also ages well. [name]Allegra[/name] is nice, but all I think of is the allergy medicine!

I’m not crazy about the rest of your list, but [name]Savannah[/name] isn’t bad. Avaline could work, but I really hate the name [name]Ava[/name]. Same with [name]Dylan[/name] - that name is nails on a chalkboard to me.

I think you should go with [name]Imogen[/name]. It’s at the top of your list and fits your criteria.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Clarice[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Savannah[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Allegra[/name]

I definitely prefer [name]Allegra[/name]. I cannot shake the old lady image of [name]Imogen[/name]!! I know people on this forum love it though.

I will try to come up with some combos based on your list. Seems you are like me and like both soft & girly names and unisex names! So I’ll try to balance out one with the other.

[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
Avaline [name]Gray[/name]
Avaline [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

I know sisters with those names! I love them both but I like [name]Imogen[/name] a little more.
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Cate[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Grace[/name]

If you do go with [name]Allegra[/name], I like:
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Piper[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Bea[/name]/[name]Bee[/name]/[name]Bree[/name]

No [name]Allegra[/name]! LOL Sorry, just completely reminds me of the allergy medicine 100%. I’m not a huge fan of [name]Imogen[/name] either, but definitely 100000000 times better than [name]Allegra[/name], but I do really like [name]Savannah[/name] from your alternate list. Best of luck with your decision!

[name]Imogen[/name] all the way! My first thought was [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] could be nice too.

[name]Imogen[/name] has been growing on me since I watch a lot of MSNBC, and there’s a recurring commentator on the [name]Dylan[/name] Ratigan show who is named [name]Imogen[/name]. She’s young, beautiful, blonde, and british, and totally changed the stodgy image I used to have of the name. I think it’s quite lovely now. I think it would be better paired with a less clunky name for balance though. I like [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Zoe[/name], and [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Rose[/name].

Instead of [name]Savannah[/name], how about [name]Susannah[/name]? [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] sounds beautiful together. If you have a 3-1-2 name for your daughter, it will flow well, for example: [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Barrett[/name], [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Mae[/name] [name]Barrett[/name].

I adore [name]Allegra[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name]. [name]Both[/name] fit the “unique, strong but elegant” criteria perfectly in my opinion, assuming you don’t live in the UK where [name]Imogen[/name] is uber popular! I could care less about the allergy medicine thing. For one, I’ve never heard of it, and two, people name their daughters [name]Clio[/name] even though its a car name. Any name you choose could end up being used for a famous product in future if it hasn’t already so it wouldn’t stop me. It’s not like it’s a hemorrhoid cream or something! Lol.

Of the other names on your list, I really don’t think [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Fallon[/name] or [name]Jamieson[/name] fit your criteria at all sorry. [name]Dylan[/name] is still very much a boys name to me (but then I am a [name]Brit[/name] and unisex names aren’t as big a thing here, [name]Ashley[/name] is still all boy here for example). I can understand how [name]Dylan[/name] could work on a girl, although to me it wouldn’t sound “elegant”, but [name]Fallon[/name], I don’t understand that on a girl at all sorry. It’s so butch and tough sounding, and again not elegant. And [name]Jamieson[/name] looks creative, trendy, and reminds me of whiskey, again not at all elegant and very masculine especially with the “son” ending - not a fan at all sorry.

[name]Savannah[/name] is nice, but way more popular than [name]Imogen[/name] or [name]Allegra[/name] so I wouldn’t call it unique. If you want to avoid popular names, I say avoid this. [name]Savannah[/name] is number 46 in the US top 1000 names, but neither [name]Imogen[/name] or [name]Allegra[/name] rank. That’s a huge difference in popularity.

Avaline is nice but I’d spell it [name]Aveline[/name] or just go for [name]Eveline[/name]. You’re going to have spelling and pronunciation issues whichever you go with. I still think [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Allegra[/name] are by far your best options. [name]Both[/name] also have lovely meanings, [name]Imogen[/name] meaning “beloved child” and [name]Allegra[/name] “joyous”.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Greer[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Tess[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Snow[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] there’s something in there! Best of luck, and don’t doubt your beautiful final two choices

[name]Imogen[/name] for sure! TBH I really don’t like any of the other names. They’re either too masculine or just really NMS.

These have probably been mentioned but I like:
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Kay[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Paige[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Renee[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Brianne[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Blaire[/name]

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Clara[/name] is top of our list but others we’ve considered that might work with [name]Barrett[/name] are below. By the way I think a 2-syllable mn would work with your last name much better so it’s 3+2+2, to me 3+1+2 means you stop short in the middle.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Zara[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Eula[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Caelie[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Neva[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Olive[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Ada[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Liesl[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Margot[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you like any of these? We had a big mixture to whittle down and may still go for something edgier than [name]Clara[/name]…

  • [name]Ginny[/name]

PS - I don’t have the allergy med connection with [name]Allegra[/name] but I just don’t like it nearly as much as [name]Imogen[/name]. Plus it could be shorted to the very boring [name]Ally[/name].

I vote for [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Fern[/name] perhaps? [name]Love[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] with a word name in the middle! Good luck:)

[name]Don[/name]'t worry we will do our best to help you reach a decision.

My choice for you is [name]Imogen[/name], It is a great name, very spunky and feminine. It has personality and is definitely a fabulous choice.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Zara[/name]

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Clarice[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Orla[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Wendy[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Lilith[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Poppy[/name]

Good luck

We have an [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Collins[/name], if that’s any help?
[name]Joy[/name] is a family name and together, I love the happy artistic slant.

My mum shortens it to “[name]Midge[/name]”, which I think is cute, but there is nothing cuter than a two year old saying “I’m [name]Immy[/name]” in a high pitched voice. She then has the choice to extend to [name]Imogen[/name] when she’s older and seeks a little more gravitasse…

We also considered [name]Allegra[/name], as both grandmothers are musical.
Fexofenadine is known as “Telfast” in the UK, so no allergy associations.
“[name]Allegra[/name] [name]Hope[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]” would be nice too…

Good luck!

Wow, the image I get from that has made me suddenly fall head over heels for the name [name]Imogen[/name] XD The nn “[name]Midge[/name]” is adorable!

I like them both. I lean more towards [name]Imogen[/name] because of it’s Scottish origins and my Scottish background, but I love both names ffor how they sound and what they mean.

I think both would woth with [name]Claire[/name] for a middle name. Or some other one syllable name, like [name]Faith[/name] or [name]Hope[/name] or [name]Grace[/name]. This is unless you have some family name you want to use.

[name]Imogen[/name] is my preferred style anyway, but I prefer it for you for other reasons:
I feel Allegra Bennett is too many doubles to look at.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Claire[/name] as pp mentioned is classy and classic.

[name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Allegra[/name] are both nice names and I’ve considered [name]Imogen[/name] for myself too! With [name]Allegra[/name], I think it depends on where you live because if you live in the US, I think you will get medicine comments, but if that doesn’t bother you, I see no problem with it. [name]Allegra[/name] has a wonderful meaning. Good luck.
