Nameberry lists [name_f]Allegro[/name_f] only as a girls name, but do you think it could work on a boy?
My late father was named [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] but thats been hard to work with in terms of finding an alternative honour name. His nickname was Legs (he was tall) so I thought [name_f]Allegro[/name_f] might work. It also suits my partners wishes of an Italian sounding name.
Thoughts?
I think definitely! [name_f]Allegro[/name_f] does seem more Italian boy than girl with the o ending. Besides more and more people these days are caring less and less about the gender of a name, so I doubt anyone would ever even wonder if it was supposedly a girls name:)
I don’t know why it’s listed as a girl’s name when it’s a word name, and I don’t see record of usage for either sex. Go with it, it would make a wonderful honor name.

The name reads boy at first thought. I think it’s great!
I think [name_f]Allegro[/name_f] works fine on a boy. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Grover[/name_m]. Not knowing I would have guessed boy, [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] I would guess girl. I share your [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] namesake troubles. Someone on here suggested [name_m]Vin[/name_m]. I was looking for middles though.

DH didnt love that [name_f]Allegro[/name_f] is a word in Italian…but was fine with [name_u]Robin[/name_u]?!
[name_m]Will[/name_m] keep [name_f]Allegro[/name_f] for consideration for next time
