What do you think of [name]Alma[/name]? ([name]Al[/name]-muh) any nicknames I could use?
Middle name will be [name]Esther[/name].
sooo old! [name]Esther[/name] too…
I like [name]Alma[/name]. What about [name]Ali[/name], [name]Mimi[/name], etc. for a nn?
While I adore [name]Alma[/name], combined with [name]Ester[/name] it may feel too “old-lady” to non-Berries. Have you considered [name]Elsa[/name]? It has almost the same feel as [name]Alma[/name], while sounding just a little more modern, and it’s alliterative if you like that.
I love [name]Alma[/name]. I think it’s a great alternative to the incredibly popular [name]Emma[/name]. It would be one of my favorites if I weren’t put off by a minor character named [name]Alma[/name] in a book I recently read. However, I do think that pairing it with [name]Esther[/name], which I also like, makes it seem more “old lady” than it would if it were paired with a different middle name, since they’re both sort of borderline “old lady” names.
I think it’s old-lady, but in a good way. Ditto [name]Esther[/name]. I’d use either of them, but not together. The flow of [name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name] seems really off.
I really love [name]Alma[/name]! [name]Esther[/name] as well. I do agree with the pp that the flow is not fantastic when you put both names together.
I know a bunch of little Almas… I don’t think it’s took old (plus, I like old names) but paired with [name]Esther[/name], it does sound like the name of an old lady. I like [name]Esther[/name] as well, though, so this isn’t a knock to either name
I wouldn’t use a nickname with [name]Alma[/name]. I love the meaning of it and a nickname kind of takes away from that.
Dang! We really wanted to use [name]Esther[/name] as a mn because he or she will be born around Purim. All of the names we love don’t sound well with [name]Esther[/name] as the mn.
[name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name] is so sweet. [name]Alma[/name]'s similarity to the mega popular [name]Emma[/name] helps it feel modern. I like [name]Esther[/name]'s significance to you, so I would keep it! [name]How[/name] the first and last name sound together is more important than how the first and middle name sound together.
I think [name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name] is a beautiful name!! And I especially like that the middle name has significance for you. I also love the nickname possibilities of [name]Ali[/name] or [name]Mimi[/name] (though it doesn’t seem to need a nickname) and the freshness of the name in general. I do not think of old ladies when I hear [name]Alma[/name]. To me, it just sounds fresh and lovely. I would absolutely love to meet a little [name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name].
I love [name]Alma[/name] so much! I also love [name]Althea[/name] & [name]Alberta[/name] & [name]Erma[/name]. I love [name]Esther[/name] too. But together I think they drag each other down and sound old. I would probably use a 3rd middle between them to make the name less weighty.
[name]Alma[/name] could be called [name]Allie[/name] or [name]Al[/name] (even though I use a sofet A for [name]Alma[/name]) or maybe [name]Amy[/name] or Almy or [name]Mimi[/name]?
I think [name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name] is lovely and quirky. It is old lady-ish, but wonderfully so! I like to think of names like these as “old lady chic.”
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Alma[/name] but not a huge [name]Esther[/name] fan.
I like both names, and I do love “old lady” names in general, but the two of them together kind of takes alma and esther from “refreshing” to “too crusty” for me. I would find a bit more modern name in the middle, or stick with a mainstream classic name to balance it out…to me, something like [name]Alma[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] or [name]Alma[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] sounds so much better than [name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name]. If you are set on [name]Esther[/name] in the middle, I would find a different first name (less “old lady”)
I adore [name]Alma[/name]! It is one of my very favorite names of all time. So is [name]Esther[/name]. Unfortunately my husband sees them both as old lady and every time I bring up [name]Alma[/name] he brings up [name]Sister[/name] Act. ."[name]Alma[/name]! (thump thump) [name]ALMA[/name]! Turnip your hearing aid!" With that said, if your SO loges it too, I would be thrilled to know there was a little [name]Alma[/name] [name]Esther[/name] or [name]Esther[/name] [name]Alma[/name] walking around.
Thank you!
