Almost afraid to ask, but...middle name suggestions for Mary-Jane?

I’m a little afraid to ask after reading the “long double barrelled names” post, but here goes. The husband and I are (still) trying for our third, and have decided on [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] should we have another girl. Our children are [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Hope[/name]. We’re having a hard time with the midde name, though, and I would love some suggestions! So far, we’ve thrown around [name]Abigail[/name], [name]Elinor[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], and [name]Verity[/name] as possibilites. Thanks in advance!

I like [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Abigail[/name] and [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Elinor[/name].
Other suggestions:
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Lorelei[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] Rosabel
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Melody[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Bellamy[/name]

Why not just [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] ([name]Jane[/name] as middle?). My grandmothers name was that and she always just went by [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name].

We would want her to be called [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]. While she could go by both her first and middle, legally she would be just [name]Mary[/name].

Thank you for the suggestions! I especially love [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Willow[/name].

[name]Don[/name]'t be afraid to ask!

Your daughter’s name, [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Hope[/name], is a 3-1 syllable combination, so I’m going to assume that rhythm works well with your last name.

[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] is also 3 syllables, so I’d go with a one syllable middle. [name]How[/name] about:

[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Greer[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Wynn[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Brooke[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Belle[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Kay[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Fern[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Dale[/name]

[name]Abigail[/name] is a nice middle name for [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]

Thanks! Our last name is two syllabels, so it gives us a 3-1-2 rhythm. [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] was at the top of my list, but the husband thinks it sounds too much like [name]Mary[/name] J. Blige. I’m definitely going to run [name]Faith[/name], [name]Greer[/name], and [name]Claire[/name] by him!

Thanks! [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Abigail[/name] is our son’s favorite combination.

[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] is my favorite.

[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Emerald[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Lauretta[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Simonetta[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]

It’s a shame about [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]. You are very brave to use it. I think it is cute and I had a friend with this name when I was in elementary school. I have often wondered if she goes by [name]Mary[/name] or MJ now, since [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] could lead to teasing…
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Hope[/name] is really pretty, so I like the idea of [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Verity[/name].

I just have to ask, to be absolutely sure you are aware and that it doesn’t matter, but you know the drug connotation to the name [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] I assume? Like, I said, as long as you know, and it doesn’t bother you, please carry on  (I am terrible with middles, so I am no help there sorry :frowning: I do feel an A name would be nice! )

We are aware of it, but decided the personal significance of the name far outways it.

[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] [name]Emerald[/name] is very intriguing!

Why does she need a mn? My great aunt is [name]Annie[/name] [name]Virginia[/name], no mn. I know a little [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Camille[/name], no mn.
Write it on her birth certificate as
FN: [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
MN: (blank)

It’s clunky to add a mn after such an abrupt name like [name]Jane[/name]. But if you must it should be more than one syllable so it doesn’t sound like a list of names

I suppose the simple answer is that we would want her to have a middle name. Thank you for your input.

There are some good suggestions above. [name]Odessa[/name] comes to mind.
