[name]Ana[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] is lovely & the short fn fits beautifully with her sister. [name]Liv[/name] and [name]Ana[/name]

Either [name]Annika[/name] [name]Elin[/name] or [name]Ana[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] would be lovely for [name]Liv[/name]'s sister. I’m not feeling [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Emmy[/name] at all.

THanks so much for your response. I am pronouncing it [name]Ah[/name]-nah and spelling [name]Ana[/name] to help with that pronunciation. [name]Anna[/name] is a family name from a great Aunt in [name]Sweden[/name]. Of course in [name]Sweden[/name] [name]Anna[/name] is pronounced [name]Ah[/name]-nah, here in the states I worry she will get called An-nah all day long. I really do not like the sound of An-na, and much prefer [name]Ah[/name]-nah. [name]Do[/name] you think with this name she will constantly be correcting people?
Thanks!

Still love [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Annika[/name]! I can’t seem to pick between the two, and I think I’ve waffled between each combo in the three polls I’ve voted on. haha. I voted for [name]Ella[/name] this time, because I just love [name]Ella[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] so much more as a combo than [name]Annika[/name] [name]Elin[/name]!

Good luck!

Sorry to be a downer, but I actually know an [name]Ana[/name] (ah-nah) and she was ALWAYS called AN-nah. I think she gave up trying to correct people, but whenever someone said it properly she would light up… So I’m guessing it was be a problem for her. A lot of Berries are sensitive about names enough that they would probably pick up on it, but I’m not sure the average person would. :frowning: I think with [name]Annika[/name], it would be easier to ensure she got the nn [name]Ana[/name] rather than [name]Anna[/name]… simply because the AHN sound is right there in the beginning… When it comes down to it, though, if you like [name]Ana[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] the best, you’ll probably just have to correct people. Hopefully others will catch on after being corrected a few times.

I knew an [name]Ana[/name] and she was polish, everyone pronounced it [name]Anna[/name] as well, but that’s how she wanted it to be pronounced. When I see [name]Ana[/name], I automatically say it [name]Ah[/name]-na… and I don’t know much about names…

Thank you so much for your honest answer. Yes, I tested the name out at the park the other day and introduced her as [name]Ah[/name]-na and when the girl left she said bye An-na. Ugh! It drove me nuts! The name pronunciations give the names such a different feel and impression. She has a long last name as well, and will def. have to correct people on that as well. I really love the name [name]Ana[/name] ([name]Ah[/name]-na) but is it too much of an uphill battle?

In regards to [name]Annika[/name], I do like the name. It is not as soft, sweet and short as [name]Ana[/name]. The one thing I do [name]LOVE[/name] about it, is that it is unique. I really like unique names, hence her sisters name [name]Liv[/name]. I tend to gravitate toward shorter names. I know you can shorten [name]Annika[/name] as well.

Hmmm…

I think [name]Annika[/name] nickname [name]Ana[/name] would be really great with [name]Liv[/name]. You had that one incident, but I don’t think that’s normal. My name is [name]Cassie[/name] and when I introduce myself, I say [name]Cassie[/name] and most people get it. Only when people [name]READ[/name] my name before meeting me do they call me [name]Casey[/name] or [name]Cassidy[/name] (I don’t how [name]Cassie[/name] = [name]Cassidy[/name], there is no D anywhere in [name]Cassie[/name], but whatever, people are weird and don’t pay attention.) When you say her name is ah-na, most people are going to call her ah-na.

It depends how much [name]Anna[/name] prn bothers you. Id say if it really bothered you the other day, then probably its not the name for you if youre going to be scrunching your nose every time its mispronounced. You could always do [name]Annika[/name] nn [name]Ana[/name] that might not be mispronounced as much.

Any updates? What was the verdict? I’m eager to know. I voted for [name]Ana[/name] but understand your dilemma.

I like [name]Annika[/name]…like [name]Liv[/name] it’s a bit of a twist on a traditional/well-known name. Very sweet but strong.

I know a couple [name]Ana[/name]'s, and if it’s going to irritate you to that extent to hear people pronounce it incorrectly then I suggest you go with another name (so long as you still love other names). I would say most people could get the difference, but there are always some who just can’t be bothered to learn the correct way.
