Alonzo Elijah

[name]Hi[/name] all!

After struggling through hundreds of names and asking your opinion every now and again we came up with a new name we both like for our second baby: [name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elijah[/name].

Please comment so I can see potential problems with this name that I am missing

Thanks in advance!

The only problen I see is that [name]Alonzo[/name] & [name]Elijah[/name] have the same # of syllables & the same kind of stresses on the sounds. They’re very similar names so it makes sense that they both appeal to you.

[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Eli[/name]
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elias[/name]
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Alistair[/name] [name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Alan[/name] [name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] [name]Elijah[/name]
Allesandro [name]Elijah[/name]

They are both strong names, but together they are a little vowel heavy. Maybe
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Peter[/name]
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]

to continue a Biblical theme. Or

[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Evan[/name]
[name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elliott[/name]

I love [name]Elijah[/name] but I’m not keen on [name]Alonzo[/name] at all, I’ve only ever heard of it as a last name.

I do agree they are very vowel heavy and have the same sound patterns so not great together.

[name]Ah[/name]! I’m so happy to see someone seriously considering [name]Alonzo[/name]! I think [name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] is fine. I see what people mean with the name being vowel heavy, but that doesn’t bother me. The “z” in [name]Alonzo[/name] and the “j” in [name]Elijah[/name] keep the name out of liquid territory.

I think [name]Alonzo[/name] is gorgeous and [name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] is awesome. Yes, I see the vowel thing but you don’t call kids by their first and middle names enough to make it matter that much. When you yell at him you have plenty of syllables to get your point across!

Firstborn is our princess named [name]Gabriella[/name].

I like [name]Alonzo[/name] a lot.

[name]Elijah[/name] is so common that it bores me unless it’s a family name or something.

Congratulations! [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Alonzo[/name] sound wonderful together. [name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] sounds strong yet romantic to me. I do tend to prefer combining first and middle names with uneven numbers of syllables or uneven rhythms; [name]Alonzo[/name] [name]Elijah[/name], matching as it does, sounds a bit sing-songy out loud. But, as has been pointed out, you don’t usually use the first and middle names together often enough to make it a big deal.

Also, [name]Alonzo[/name] is unusual enough that unless your family is Italian, you might get a few strange looks when you announce his name. [name]Don[/name]'t let that keep you from using it, though!

Best wishes!

I think it’s nice. It has a nice rhythm. It’s a little vowel heavy, but I like lot’s of vowels, so it doesn’t bother me at all.

Thanks for the input all, you gave me a lot to consider. It helps getting objective advise! My husband and I are both second generation Italian living in South [name]Africa[/name]. We need an Italian name that isn’t already in use by our huge family… as we want a unique name. The [name]Elijah[/name] is purely me trying to keep to a biblical theme, and as far as Bible names go that’s the only one my husband can live with

Much appreciated all!

Sorry but I agree with the other posters - the same number of syllables with the same stresses, and the combination of [name]Al[/name]/[name]El[/name] sounds at the start makes it a little sing-songy for me. As siblings it would be okay but not as a first and middle name.

I don’t see anything wrong with it, I tend to like vowel heavy names anyways!
