So my grandfather and brother are named [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]. With our accents it’s pronounced [name_m]Ed[/name_m]-Ger not [name_m]Ed[/name_m]-[name_m]Gar[/name_m].
So far my names list has 3 honor names from DH/SO’s side of the family ([name_m]Anson[/name_m], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] for [name_u]June[/name_u], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f]/Lenora) and my grandpa is soooo meaningful to me. He helped raise me and is a major father figure.
Do you think using another [name_m]Ed[/name_m] name could work (e.g., [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] (love)) also he goes mostly by [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and my brother goes by [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]. I feel like if I just used [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] and my grandpa passes away it would be odd to have their uncle have the same name.
“Edgarda” is the feminine version of “[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]”, but I can’t say it’s my favorite. You could try to re-spell [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] into [name_f]Gerda[/name_f], Derga, Adger, Darde, or Garde (not all of these are real, but they’re certainly unique!). If your grandpa was born on a [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], or in [name_f]April[/name_f] or [name_u]June[/name_u], you could use those as names too. The [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- prefix also has a lot of feminine options.

The most common on this list are [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Edie[/name_f], and [name_f]Edeline[/name_f].
You could also choose to honor [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] with [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m] [name_u]Poe[/name_u]. Some names inspired by his poems include [name_u]Raven[/name_u], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped. Good luck!
I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. To me it is the perfect name. I like [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_m]Edsel[/name_m], and [name_u]Edison[/name_u] too.
Those all seem like great names to honor [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] without actually being [name_m]Edgar[/name_m].
