Alternatives to Hazor?

Hiya all,

I’m making a family tree and have found an ancestor, from back in the 1800’s in England, whose name was Hazor. I can’t find any other records of him under that name and was wondering if anyone new of variants or any ideas of similar names from that time period?

Wasn’t sure where exactly where to put this, but I’d appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance, Dusty

I just looked it up and Hazor was an ancient settlement in [name_u]Israel[/name_u], I think? The name itself might have some biblical connections. It might also be related to [name_m]Hazael[/name_m], [name_m]Hazaiah[/name_m], or [name_m]Hazon[/name_m]? Another similar name I found is Hazar, which is Arabic (female). It could, of course, also simply be a short form or nickname, as suggested above. [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] is a matching possibility.

[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] is a great suggestion!

[name_u]Hayes[/name_u] and [name_m]Hiram[/name_m] maybe?
