So after making me fall in love with the name [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], DH has decided that he doesn’t really like it that much anymore.
He suggested the name [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]. No offense to any Sydneys but it’s just not my style for a girl at all. I’d rather use it for a boy if I was going to use it. He also likes [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] which I like but are way too popular for me.
I’m hoping I can get him to like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] again but if I can’t, are there any alternatives you can think of? I love vintage, mythological and nature names. For whatever reason he’s being way pickier with girls names than with boys.
Forgot to mention he also likes [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] but will not spell it [name_f]Brighid[/name_f]/[name_f]Brigid[/name_f] which is the only way I like it.
Update: Thank you everyone for all the lovely suggestions! He seems to only like Holly and I’m just not all that excited about it so I’m going to table girls names for now. He said it’s ultimately up to me but I wanted a name we both like. We just have very different styles for girls.
Others have mentioned this, but [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] has always been such a similar name to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] in my mind. I can’t think of one without the other!
Sorry for any repetitions
[name_u]Nature[/name_u] name:
[name_f]Luz[/name_f] * (Spanish for light)
Sole( Italian for [name_f]Sun[/name_f])
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] ( means dawn in Italian)
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] Or [name_f]Laila[/name_f] ( means night in Arabic)
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/ [name_f]Rosina[/name_f]/ Rossella/ [name_f]Rosette[/name_f]/ [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]

[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] */ [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
Vintage, taking [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] as an inspiration:
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucretia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
Such a shame he’s gone off [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!
I wouldn’t give up on it just yet, if he liked it before then he may come back around
But how about [name_f]Viola[/name_f], if he likes [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but they feel too popular to you? It’s got that feisty vintage vibe, literary and nature links, and is surprisingly underused.
There will be repeats, but here are some other names that give me the same vibes as [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]:
@katinka Yes, I hope he comes around again! Thanks for the suggestions
@CareBear10 [name_u]Holly[/name_u] is one of the few he likes so far
Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions!! You’ve been a lot of help. I really like most of these names actually. I will run them all by him and see how it goes. We’ve only named boys and so I didn’t realize our naming style for girls is so different. 🤦🏻
That’s a shame about [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], it’s a great name.
I second [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], but wanted to add [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] (instead of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]), I didn’t see it mentioned unless I missed it.
I love [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]! I would totally use it but I have a 16 year old cat named [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] so he’s claimed any variation of that name. Wasn’t thinking about future kids when I named him
