My husband has been very fond of the name [name_f]Tesla[/name_f]. I think it’s okay. I’m not crazy about it because of the car association and I think it sounds too close to our second son’s name, [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. He likes it because it sounds spunky and he is fond of [name_u]Nikola[/name_u] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f]. [name_u]Nikola[/name_u] is not a possibility for personal reasons. Any other suggestions?

Similar in sound:
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessie[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] ([name_f]Tesla[/name_f] means “from [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]”)

I like -eagleeyes- idea of [name_f]Tess[/name_f]/[name_f]Tessie[/name_f]! The full version of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] sounds very cute!
[name_u]Nikola[/name_u] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] is an awesome namesake, and I don’t think it’s TOO close to [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but I do see your point.
Since [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] sounds like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], I think the suggestion of [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] is a good one if you want to keep the sound of [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] while directing the name away from the Teh- sound in [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].
If you want to go more towards the science angle, you could honor [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] using the name of another famous investor that [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] worked with: [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m]. In my opinion, if [name_u]Addison[/name_u] is fine for a girl, then so is [name_m]Edison[/name_m], and you can still use [name_f]Addy[/name_f] as a nickname if you think [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] is too masculine. You could also try [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (after [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]), Curie (after [name_f]Marie[/name_f] Curie), or the first or last name of any other scientist or inventor you can think of. If you want to go that route, you have thousands to choose from.
Thank you for the suggestions! [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]/[name_f]Tessie[/name_f] is much too close to [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] for me. Although I adore that name. Considering we have another son, [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] would seem too matchy once you throw the name [name_u]Bryce[/name_u] into the mix. We will just keep brainstorming!
As a pp pointed out, [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] -> [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] -> [name_f]Teresa[/name_f], why not [name_f]Riza[/name_f]?
It’s a form of [name_f]Teresa[/name_f], but just the cool part of it.
(Was also going to suggest that if you don’t like [name_u]Nikola[/name_u], what about just [name_u]Nico[/name_u]/[name_u]Niko[/name_u]? Gets you that [name_u]Nikola[/name_u] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] connection more directly…)
As far as spunky goes, this is what comes to mind for me…
