Am I being totally mental/paranoid and overthinking?!

Hey all! Am working on my lists ready for our next baby (whenever that will be!) and love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] as a firstname-middlename combo, I was testing out nicknames using both names (eg [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Flo[/name_f] etc), and thought I should ask: am I being totally paranoid that people will see it as IVF ([name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-F)? Disclaimer I don’t think there is anything wrong with people having IVF it is a brilliant invention I just don’t want to name my kid after a medical thing! Thank you!!

I think it is an overreaction, and I doubt anyone will notice. But even if they did notice, what more is to be said than “hey, IVF”? There’s not really much teasing or joking material there, it’s a fascinating technology but not much humour or spite to get out of it. And that’s assuming people notice, which again, I don’t think they would.

I mean it could happen when they say like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] F and her surname. That said, I don’t think it’s a big deal. I love [name_f]Florence[/name_f]!

I don’t think people will notice. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is pretty btw.

I wouldn’t have thought of that at all. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is lovely

IVF would never have occurred to me when seeing [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. I think it’s absolutely fine.

I don’t think people every really use first name and middle initial to refer to people so I think your safe. But you might see it/think of it now everytime you see her name!

Could you switch to [name_f]Florence[/name_f] ivy just to ease your own mind?

Yep. You’re totally overthinking it.

To answer your title question, Yes, yes you are haha

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is looovely!

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is lovely. People dont really use first names and middle initial, so it’s fine.

I don’t think anyone would’ve noticed, you are definitely overthinking!

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is wonderful

I think you’re definitely overthinking it. Most people aren’t going to know what your daughter’s middle name is. I don’t know anyone who goes by their [first name] + [middle initial].

When I skim read this I assumed you were currently pregnant through IVF and in that case I think it would be a justified ‘‘problem’’ (that word used very loosely, just seeing as you don’t want to be naming your kid after her manor of conception I suppose). But no, otherwise I think you’re a overthinking a bit!

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is a reasonably well used name, so I assume there’s plenty of little girls called [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] with F surnames, which are used much more often and probably without much issue (she won’t be writing IVF on her schoolwork, which an [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_m]Fisher[/name_m] probably would).

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is very beautiful!

Overthinking it!
It’s a really nice name, but if it will keep you second-guessing yourself long term, you may want to reconsider.

I agree with pp. I think you’re overthinking it which is a good thing. If you wanted to call her [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] F then yes I think people will make the connection but kids are that creative so I doubt they will make fun of her for it. But since you might call her [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Flo[/name_f] I don’t think it will be a problem
