I love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]! I picture an active and happy young girl. [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] isn’t crazy popular, but it’s heard of and won’t cause spelling or pronunciation problems. Reeslyn feels very made up, and [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] is cute, but I can’t see it aging well. [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_u]Reece[/name_u] would be my second choice.

Nooo, what happened to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]?! I LOVED her! :frowning:

I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is my favorite, but it rather pales in comparison to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for me. I surprisingly like Reeselyn paired with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] as opposed to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], was it?, though.

I just love [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] for you, though!

Well my moms grandmas name was [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and she really loves it, so we are considering it. And some people had commented that [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] was too much with the hyphenated first [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u]. It was originally Reeselyn [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]…we were trying to satisfy our oldest son by incorporating his favorite name [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]…but we aren’t necessarily trying to do that anymore.

Out of what is up there, I like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] by far! While a nickname, [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is at least established.

However, [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] brought up that you were considering [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]…that probably would’ve been tied for first, for me! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] goes a lot better with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] than [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. But I can understand why you would want to choose a family name.

So, [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] gets my vote.

Well, I can’t fault a family name! In [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]'s defense, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] has just as much syllables, but [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a more muted pink in my mind, while [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is more of a bold pink (heightened by [name_u]Reese[/name_u]'s presence just before her), so they have very different feelings to me. [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] loves swinging on tire swings in the backyard (and generally enjoys her solitude), grows up reading (and loving!) [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] and playing the piano. She has inner fortitude, but doesn’t feel the need to prove herself to anyone else. [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f], though, is so, so, so spunky and a real ball-buster. She won’t take crap from anyone, probably grows up playing soccer instead of taking music lessons and loves science experiments and chemistry over [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]. They’re both insanely intelligent, thoughtful, and brave. That’s just one perception, though. I’m sure whatever you choose will be lovely!

Good luck!

Wow!! That’s some amazing insight into the names. In meaning she should probably be a blend of the two, I can be quiet and reserved and a girly girly, but on the other hand very spunky and tomboyish.

does anyone have any ideas on a great middle name for Reeselyn?

So close between [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]! [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] would be my personal choice, but [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] is what your husband loves.

I think Reeslyn is so beautiful! I like it better with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] though. Reeslyn [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is perfect!

I voted for Reeslyn [name_f]Clara[/name_f] because it reminded me of Riesling wine.
I read [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] as avaries/ovaries.
Though I like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], I don’t like using a nn as a given name.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] has great potential as…
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_u]Clare[/name_u]/[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
Clareese a smush of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] & [name_u]Reese[/name_u] or
[name_f]Clarice[/name_f] !
So…
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] called [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] called [name_f]Charli[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]. My second pick would be [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u].

I like [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] reminds me of avarice.

I so love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I don’t think you could go wrong with it.

Thanks everyone! I do love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], but the problem with that name is I have no idea which I would call her. We have said from day one we would use [name_u]Reese[/name_u], but with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] in there too I’m not sure, because I equally like it!!

If you plan to call her [name_u]Reese[/name_u], then name her [name_u]Reece[/name_u]. [name_m]Trust[/name_m] me when I tell you, it’s a pain not going by your given name. My husband and I both suffered through that, and swore we wouldn’t do that to our children. [name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] is fine. I thought you would call her [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. If not, then I vote to name her [name_u]Reese[/name_u]

I like [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_u]Reece[/name_u] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u].
And I just want to say that you are not going crazy. Questioning the name at this stage is totally normal. The baby is born yet, the birth certificate isn’t signed. It is no big deal. It will all be ok.

I voted for [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]. If you aren’t sure what you would call [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], you might make it short for another name, like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or anything with the mag sound (just an idea).

I personally think [name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] sounds just fine, though, and if you love it, then use it!

The more we think about it the more we are considering just using it alone! But I would need a great middle name to go with it. I have grown to love all of these names so it’s going to be a hard decision.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again! I replied to a previous post of yours with a vote for [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] (with slightly different spelling back then) and I still have a lot of love for it  Personally, I think you should go with [name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Reese[/name_u] absolutely works for a girl ([name_u]Reese[/name_u] Witherspoon!) and that seems to be the one real constant between all the names you’re deciding between, so I’d go ahead and use it if I were you.

I think it would work well paired with any of the very feminine other names you’re also considering, too: [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], or [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] (though I would definitely go with a “full name” version like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], etc. myself). But I remember you wrote that [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] had a tie-in with your husband’s name, and I think that is very sweet.

And no, you’re not crazy at all! My husband is solid as a rock on the name for our upcoming baby (and obviously I love it too) otherwise I could see myself in exactly your shoes!
