Today my boyfriend suggested the name [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], which I love. I adore it. The only problem is that his last name is Rums3y. It got to the point that saying [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] Rums3y even sounded good, even with the repeating R, M, S, and Y sounds.
I don’t think it’s completely unusable but [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] Rums3y sounds a bit like a super-hero name to me (akin to [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] [name_m]Banner[/name_m] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_u]Parker[/name_u]).
[name_m]Way[/name_m] too matchy! [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]? Those aren’t as bad. Sorry! [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] Rums3y is just a bit too rhyme-y.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a nice name but it’s really sing-songy. Would using your last name (for a double last) help? Or, as previous posters suggested, you could consider [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], or (for a hint of matchy-ness) [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f].
I agree on name and last name being too similar. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you consider using a middle name? If you do I think a completely different MN would make [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] work with the last name.
They are way too similar, but that’s part of the draw! I personally love superhero names. I think you should use it if you both love it. And say it really fast every time, it makes it more fun.
Aw. I think it’s actually really cute. Super matchy, but I don’t know if that’s a terrible thing. It does sound like a name that you’d hear on a kid in a Disney [name_f]Chanel[/name_f] sitcom or chapter book. Along the lines of [name_f]Junie[/name_f] B. [name_m]Jones[/name_m].
I’m usually really picky about stuff like this but I think it’s fine. Yes, they’re a bit matchy and a little hard to say together but it’s not terrible.
i sort of love it! there are people in my life that I always call by their first and last name together…just because it’s so perfect sounding…so I would totally name her that…she does sound like a super hero/heroin/princess and I mean-how perfect for your name to be so awesome people think you are one of those before they even meet you!
I like it too. Its matchy but not awkard to say. I think the different syllable count in the two names saves it, but nicknames might be tricky- [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] Rums3y and [name_u]Romy[/name_u] Rums3y aren’t great but could be cute on a little girl i suppose.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]- A nickname is one of my concerns. I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] so much. I think maybe [name_f]Ro[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] could work a little better?
birdies, I was going to mention [name_f]Ro[/name_f] as a nickname before I saw your post. I think it would be a great nickname, and I can definitely see it on a spunky little girl.
