Am I terribly misguided...

In wanting to name two sisters the following?

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f]

Last name is in my username. I recognise they are odd choices, bordering on tediously “edgy”, but I can’t get it out of my head. Would my kids hate being named this? Is [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] too silly? [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] too masculine? To me, the “en” ending on [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] makes it rather feminine, and I just love the flow of “[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]”.

All thoughts welcome.

[name_u]Rebel[/name_u] is a bit much, but I do really like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. When you ask the question, “Would my kids hate being named this?”, ask yourself that question. Would you like the middle name [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]? Or would you be embarrassed every time someone asked you your middle name? If you like the sound of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u], what about [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]? It has similar sounds.

[name_m]Maxen[/name_m] is okay, but does read more masculine. I prefer [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]. [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] would be fabulous as sisters.

Ditto to what sweetpeacelove stated.

It’s pointless asking myself if I’d like that name, because for better or worse I take a “Shrug…I’ll own it” sort of approach to life, to DH’s frustration because he cares too much about what people think! Essentially I’m the sort of hippie who wouldn’t mind [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] as a FIRST name, to come back to the topic…that’s why I’m on this forum asking you guys for help before I ruin my kids’ lives with a bad name. :stuck_out_tongue:

I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]! I really dislike the rest of the names.

To elaborate on [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] as a name, I really feel it is too much because of the meaning. Often terrorists are referred to as rebels, or even to think of rebel as a personality trait, is not something that I would bestow on my daughter. I would keep searching for a hippy, edgy name you like that has a positive vibe.

I think [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] is fine. [name_f]Maxa[/name_f] is more feminine if you like it.

I love both those names!

The only one I’m not sold on is [name_m]Maxen[/name_m], but that’s because it reminds me of those boy names where the parents choose it based on the nickname they want, then add an -n to the end (like [name_m]Chasen[/name_m] or [name_m]Brenton[/name_m] when all they want is to use [name_u]Chase[/name_u] or [name_m]Brent[/name_m], if that makes sense?). I guess I like [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] more. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad, just a weird personal thing.

The other names work. I recently heard of [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] and thought that was awesome! And [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is fantastic.

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f]

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] though I do prefer [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]. I find two middle names too complicated so I am not or your middle name choices. Your middle name choices give me the impression you are trying to hard to make a statement with your kids name.

I do like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] better than [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] better than [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f].

If your naming one [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] as the middle where is the other sisters type name as this ([name_u]Rebel[/name_u])? I do like your names but
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] doesn’t match [name_m]Maxen[/name_m], but [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] rather.

I actually like them. And the things is, each of the girls have two other names to choose from if they don’t like their first. I will suggest that [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] is just slightly too close to [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] for my comfort, but other than that, if you love them, I say go for it.

I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] is fine, but I find [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] to be over kill. [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] brings the image of a biker bar to my mind. [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] doesn’t fit with [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], imo, but also the -en sound is very popular and I try to avoid that. If you don’t care about that I don’t see a problem with using [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] for a girl.

I think having two word names in each combo is too much, so I would choose one word name even if you stick with two middles. I like the flow of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. I find [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] too masculine and too close to [name_m]Maxim[/name_m].

I actually quite like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. I find it kind of cute and because it’s her middle name, it’ll only come up every so often. But “cute” may be where your problem lies. [name_m]Will[/name_m] she want [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] on official documents? On wedding invitations? On her license? I can see where she would get a comment nearly every time someone saw it, and I imagine her eventually tiring of having to hear about it. That could just be me, though. I find [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] to be a little…much. It kind of sounds like a place, if that makes sense. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]: a haven for rebels.

As for [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]…I really dislike this. [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] doesn’t quite have a smooth flow to it. And her names seem rather soft compared to the “rebel” in [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]'s name. I find [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] to be a much better choice than [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]. [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] sounds divine as sisters, but [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] sounds made up and trendy.

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] would be a better choice IMHO

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is great, and I’m a firm believer that literally anything is OK as a middle name.

[name_m]Maxen[/name_m]… not so much. It looks very masculine, made-up, and will be dated by the whole pack of -en early 2000s names. Further strikes against it are the similarity to [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] magazine and the general corporate-ish brand feeling of it. I get a lingering sense of, where have I heard that? Is it a drug? A brand of underwear? Workout gear?

I love [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] though, and wow, it is a perfect stylistic fit with [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].

Or, even better, I think of [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_f]Roxana[/name_f]! So perfect!

When I first saw [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] I thought the x was a v. And I liked [name_f]Maven[/name_f] (rhymes with raven), but then I realized my mistake… And I don’t like [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]. Reminds be too much of [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] and is too masculine, in my opinion.

[name_u]Rebel[/name_u] makes me think of [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars… Which I love! But I know a couple little boys named [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. I think it would be ok to use for a daughter’s middle name, but not first.

I love the name [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]… And I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is beautiful and under-used. I am not a fan of double middle names though, but I know that is trendy. But [name_u]Haven[/name_u] is ok, though it reminds me of where I grew up–a city called [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]. And [name_f]Charity[/name_f]… Well, I am not a fan of that name in general and don’t like it with [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] and [name_u]Perry[/name_u].

First things first, I think it sounds a bit off having two words as middle names. Also, I feel like [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] & [name_u]Haven[/name_u] are very contradictory. [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] makes me think risky and unrefined while [name_u]Haven[/name_u] makes me think safety and spirituality. They seem very strange paired together, almost like an oxymoron. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is a great and spunky name.

To me, [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] reads more masculine. If I heard siblings [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] I would first think it was a sister and brother set as [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is so much more feminine.

I like them all except for [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] is fine (the flow is a little off though) and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f]'s flow is fine (not great, but not awful), but I don’t like [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] is lovely, or [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] if you want a better flow.

I understand everyone’s queries about the name [name_u]Rebel[/name_u], but [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] wears it wonderfully!

I adore [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], instead of [name_m]Maxen[/name_m], like many others have suggested. I usually have an anything-goes attitude for the middle spot, but [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] is a bit much, especially on a girl, and I don’t personally care for [name_f]Charity[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about…

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Azura[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
