First off, I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Charity[/name_f] and [name_u]Haven[/name_u] as well.
I’m not a fan of [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. Not that I think being a rebel is always necessarily a negative thing (some things need to be rebelled against!) but it is often perceived that way. I feel like it sets an expectation. I also think it directly contradicts [name_u]Haven[/name_u]; rebels are forward, aggressive, passionate, and havens, to me anyway, are safe, calm, inviting places. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you don’t think of them as contradictory, when you put them together, they become a phrase - [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u], the haven of the rebels - which brings to mind some sort of guerilla warfare. I think you could find something that would still fit and sound cool that doesn’t have these issues. Maybe [name_u]Bell[/name_u]/[name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] if you’re looking for a similar sound. I would also suggest [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], or any other short nature names if you like the hippie vibe.
Now, as for [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]: Also not a fan. The sound doesn’t bother me, and I like the history behind it, even though it does remind me of the [name_u]Brayden[/name_u]/[name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]/[name_u]Aiden[/name_u] trend. It also reminds me of [name_f]Maven[/name_f], which, like [name_u]Rebel[/name_u], sets potentially unfair expectations. However, the biggest problem I have with it is that is sounds masculine. I think giving a girl a unisex or ambiguous name is okay if that’s what you like, but giving your other daughter a very feminine name confuses things because it messes with people’s expectations. Sometimes expectations deserve to be shaken, but don’t be rebellious (see what I did there?) for the hell of it. As someone who grew up with a masculine nickname and three sisters with very obviously feminine names, I can say with all honesty that I hated my nickname until I was about 17 years old. I was assumed to be a boy, or kids teased me that I had a boy name. Now, I love it, and I love the versatility my full name gives, but [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] doesn’t have much potential there; it sounds masculine, and nickname [name_u]Max[/name_u] is generally a boys name as well. She could go by [name_u]Maxi[/name_u], but, sorry to say, that brings to mind feminine products. I think [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is a great alternative. It sounds wonderful next to [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and think [name_u]Max[/name_u] is really cute on a girl- not a fan of any long versions of [name_u]Max[/name_u] for girls unfortunately, but that’s just my style. When I was younger I really wanted a daughter [name_u]Max[/name_u] and thought up Maxis for a long name, but as far as I know it’s not a legit name. As for middle names, [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] IS ‘silly’ and out there, but I think that’s fun! Nobody knows your middle name generally, unless they really know you anyway. What kid wouldn’t want their middle name to be [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] Hell I want my middle name to be [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. As far as flow, I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] sounds smoother. I also like that [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] has [name_u]Rebel[/name_u], and [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] has more feminine middles-
After reading all the comments my thoughts can be pretty concise because a lot has already been mentioned. Mostly I think the names are fine. My biggest qualms are with the meaning of “[name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]” which has been addressed, and also with the two very different images that the names project. If I were [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] I would want [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]’s name! However I am not representative of everyone (obviously). I really thought the suggestion of changing it to [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] [name_f]Charity[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] was a good one…I can’t put my thumb on why.
I don’t think you are misguided. I think you are adventurous and out-of-the-box with your naming style. This is not a bad thing. It also isn’t everyone’s taste. I wish my parents had been a little more out-of-the-box. If you are an otherwise sound parent, I don’t think your children will hate you for unusual names!
Personally, I’d never name my child [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. It’s asking for trouble.
If I were [name_m]Maxen[/name_m], I’d be so jealous of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]'s name, and would probably change my name to [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] as soon as legally allowed.
Agree with all of the above. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] is very pretty and memorable, but [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] thrown into that mix doesn’t work. They simply clash too much in my opinion. And I also stand behind the substitution of [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] for [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]. Much as I want to like it, [name_m]Maxen[/name_m] does sound like the name of an energy bar or a sports drink - or, unfortunately, a feminine hygiene product.
