Hey berry heads! I am bummed! I narrowed down my first daughter’s name but suddenly the hubby and my family don’t agree. [name]Evangeline[/name] = too hard to pronounce and spell. And [name]Evelyn[/name] = too “old” sounding.
I also like [name]Elaine[/name] and [name]Natalia[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name]. But they aren’t my first pick! Sigh, what to do??
I can’t say I like [name]Evangeline[/name] much, but I do love [name]Evelyn[/name]… it’s one of my favourite names! I often get bad feedback on it too, which I just can’t understand. It’s so lovely with so many nickname options.
I like both [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name], but I thought of a few similar names that everyone may like:
[name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Eleanora[/name] (I love the nn [name]Nora[/name]!)
[name]Emmeline[/name] (love this!)
[name]Eva[/name] or [name]Eve[/name]
Or you can use [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Evelyn[/name] as a mn!
I love [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name]! They are both timeless imo. And since [name]Evelyn[/name] is ranked #39 on the ssa charts, I think it’s safe to say it’s not ‘too old’ for a baby. People used to think [name]Emma[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Sadie[/name] were old lady names too,I guess it just takes awhile for people to get used to it
I love both names! I was sad to see that [name]Evelyn[/name] is #21 in my state…it’s really getting quite popular! My husband won’t go for [name]Evangeline[/name] (I’m still working on it for a mn), & [name]Evelyn[/name] is still in our top 3
I think [name]Evangeline[/name] is beyond gorgeous. I’m not a fan of [name]Evelyn[/name], but I have had bad experiences with 2 Evelyns, so that might be why.
I think you should go with [name]Evangeline[/name]…in noe way is it too hard to pronounce. i love the name [name]Evangeline[/name]…it will defintely be the name of my first daughter! as for [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Ive[/name] never really cared for it.
not at all! [name]Evangeline[/name] is a beautiful, ladylike name, which could easily be shortened to [name]Eve[/name], [name]Lina[/name], [name]Angel[/name], [name]Angeline[/name], or even [name]Angie[/name]!
[name]Evelyn[/name] is a very popular and poetic name, which is often shortened to [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Lynn[/name], or Linne.
So tell your hubby this, or here are some alternatives:
[name]Evangeline[/name] is pretty, but I find it rather fussy. Also I tend to think of “evangelical” when I see this name - which takes away a little appeal.
I definitely prefer [name]Evangeline[/name] to [name]Evangelina[/name] (now that would be over the top to me).
[name]Eva[/name] is a cute nickname, albeit overused.
[name]Evangeline[/name] is really pretty. I also think [name]Evelyn[/name] sounds old and stuffy, but obviously the name is getting more popular so not many people agree with me. I wouldn’t share your ideas with family anymore. Everyone is going to have an opinion and it will be hard to make everyone in your family happy while still finding a name you love. It’s easy for family to criticize the name while you are pregnant, but if you wait to announce it until the baby is born, everyone will be so enamored of the baby that they will (hopefully) keep their opinions of the name to themselves.
They are both beautiful names. I personally prefer [name]Evelyn[/name] a little better as it’s a tad easier for the kid.
[name]Evie[/name] is just the cutest nn!
[name]Love[/name] both! I think they both have the cutest nicknames as well. [name]Baby[/name] Evelyns have been popping up everywhere (a friend due is 3wks is naming her second daughter [name]Evelyn[/name]).
I adore the name [name]Evangeline[/name]. I don’t see any pronunciation issues and it’s chock full of great nicknames ([name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Angie[/name], [name]Lina[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], etc). It does sometimes feel a bit over the top to me, but those are the kind of names I like [name]Evelyn[/name] has always seemed a bit bland to me, and the “y” in it’s spelling just makes the name look trendy to me even though the spelling is totally traditional. I also love [name]Eve[/name] on its own. It’s simple and pretty. Other names that get the [name]Eve[/name]/[name]Evie[/name] nickname (if that’s what you’re looking for) are [name]Everly[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name].
Great answers everyone. I feel a lot better about my first choices. I want to run it by you though - do you like the name [name]Evaleen[/name]? I feel like it’s a combo between the two ([name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name]). Pronounciation would be Evv - uh - LEEN. My hubby likes it! Phew!
Also liking more and more [name]Elena[/name] (someone gave me this as a substitute as well).
Maybe I’ll just call her [name]Eve[/name] and be done with it! lol
Is [name]Everly[/name] a girl’s name? I love it but I thought it was for boys only? Though I don’t see it on any boy lists. [name]Emery[/name] is pretty too…
I love [name]Evelyn[/name]. My baby girl due in [name]October[/name] is going to be named [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. After my grandmother mainly, but it helps that the name is becoming more popular!
My daughter’s name is [name]Evelyne[/name] (some people think the extra “e” is unnecessary) and I don’t think it’s too “old-sounding”. I like your pick of [name]Aubrey[/name], but what does your husband want? Good luck!
