I like [name]Eulalia[/name] more in theory, as it is fun to say and so unusual. In the actual practice of naming a baby, I have to go with [name]Amalia[/name]. It is just a more realistic name for most families.

[name]Eulalia[/name] is my vote. I think it’s absolutely beautiful. [name]Amalia[/name] is pretty as well, but it walks sort of a middle line because while it is obviously unusual and unused, it is also so similar to [name]Amelia[/name] (and other names that begin with am) that it doesn’t feel nearly as distinct. That Eul- beginning, though, that really jumps out at you in look and sound as something rare and beautiful and makes for quite a stunning name.

By the way, I wouldn’t shorten [name]Eulalia[/name] to something as common as [name]Leila[/name] (though [name]Leila[/name] is very pretty). I think [name]Eula[/name] makes a great nickname that retains the dignity and sophistication of the full name. She can always fall back on [name]Leila[/name] or even [name]Lia[/name] later in life if she goes through a period (probably adolescence) where she feels like she’d like to blend in with the crowd. Something tells me though that in the long run, she’d end up going back to [name]Eula[/name].

I like [name]Amalia[/name]–beautiful name! It reminds me of [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Emily[/name], both of which have the same meaning as [name]Amalia[/name].

Another nickname option for [name]Eulalia[/name] is [name]Laia[/name]. That’s a classic name in [name]Barcelona[/name], Spain.

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce [name]Eulalia[/name]? If I’m pronouncing it right in my head, I think it’s really cute.

I love, love, love [name]Eulalia[/name]! I met a woman named [name]Eulalia[/name] once - she is a lawyer - and I just couldn’t get over her name. She pronounced it “Eu - LAH - [name]Lee[/name]- a” though.

She went by “[name]Evie[/name]” as a nickname which I like a lot. But if I ever used it, I would use “[name]Lila[/name]” as the nickname because it is another name I adore - two great names in one!

Other nn:
[name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Lollie[/name]
[name]Lia[/name]

My Great Aunt is [name]Eulalia[/name] and it was one on our list. I think it is a great name, more unusual and has a lot of cute nick names. [name]Love[/name] it!

I teach preschool, and have a darling student named [name]Eulalia[/name]-pronounced Ow-lollia. She goes often by her nickname [name]Lali[/name]-pronounced [name]Lollie[/name]. She is from Greece, so if you have any Greek roots, or even not–I think it’s a fantastic and unique name, with endless options for cute nicknames.

I would prefer [name]Amalia[/name] nn [name]Mia[/name], even though that might be an unoriginal choice. Personally, I’ve never liked names that have ‘eu’ in them, but that’s probably because in [name]Holland[/name], where I live, we pronounce that sound differently than it is pronounces in English. It would be pronounced as the ‘i’ in -for example- the name [name]Kirk[/name]. Also, [name]Amalia[/name] is the name of our little crown princess;) Out of your options list, I actually really liked [name]Leonora[/name], it’s on my girls hotlist too:) Good luck picking the name!
