Amanda

Is [name]Amanda[/name] too date to use or is it considered more of a classic?

My 12-year-old sister is named [name]Amanda[/name]

[name]Amanda[/name] is perfect! I Wouldn’t change it, because the name wouldn’t still be popular if it wasn’t deserving!
Good luck to you and your beautiful baby!

I think [name]Amanda[/name] IS a tad dated, but I don’t think it’s bad at all, in fact, it’s quite pretty. It’s been around for a really long time, so it will come around in popularity again.

I don’t know where you are from, but to American ears it sounds very 80’s. It reached number 3 in popularity in 1980.

There is nothing wrong with the name [name]Amanda[/name] except for the fact that it is dated. Still a nice name though.

There’s nothing wring with it but it does feel a little dated, Amandine is a nice fresher alternative IMO if you’re open to suggestions

I don’t think it’s dated. Yes, perhaps it did experience a surge of popularity in the 80s and 90s, but it will always be a classic. [name]Amanda[/name] has been recorded as being in use since the fifteenth century, if I’m not mistaken. If you love it, go for it.

I personally do not care for it, but I do think it is a name everyone recognizes and it currently isn’t overly popular.

[name]Amanda[/name] is pretty dated, at leat to me. I only know one [name]Amanda[/name] who was born in 1995, and even seeing it on a sixteen-year old doesn’t change my mind. [name]Amandine[/name] is a good- albeit lengthy- alternative.

It’s nice and not especially popular right now, but its a little bit dated and probably needs a while before it comes back in a big way. That could be a good thing if you don’t want a trendy name though.

Other Am- names I like are [name]Amy[/name] (which is at least as dated as [name]Amanda[/name], more '70s than '80s though) and the fairly obscure [name]Amarantha[/name] and [name]Amaryllis[/name]. [name]Amity[/name] is a virtue name I like but everyone tends to think of that damned horror movie.

[name]Amanda[/name] is a fairly historic name with a nice meaning, it’s just not going to impress people (especially Americans) with how exotic it is.

I think it perfectly useable…but I REALLY hate the term dated…so I think any legit name with some history is fine. And as an [name]Amy[/name] born in the 80’s with a BFF named [name]Amanda[/name]…I’d like hearing of a little [name]Amanda[/name]. It’s totally better than a lot of the names people are coming up with these days.

I love it! To me it’s like [name]Sarah[/name] or [name]Amy[/name]. They surged in the 80s, but they’re lovely & somewhat classic
