_______ Amaryllis?

What first names do you like with [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] that aren’t too popular or long (we have a 4 syllable last name)? We’ve hit on [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] as another way of honoring my husband’s grandmother, [name_f]Martha[/name_f] Cheryllann. We haven’t been able to love either of those names, but [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] has the [name_f]MAR[/name_f] from [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and the RYLL from Cheryllann. Now we need a first name that goes with it.

What we have so far…

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] (too rhymy and too much flower?)
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] (too popular in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], I think…dh still likes it)
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] (can’t use if we have a boy twin as [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] will be his middle name)
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]!:stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry, I know you’re going to say this is too long… but I love the combo [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]. Swoon!

[name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgette[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
Vivienne Amaryllis

I love the way you came up with [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] as a way to honor-- great combining ([name_f]Marilla[/name_f] might work too if you need another name). However, the double S (including TH) endings are hard to say and your combos have a lot of Ls that run together or make these difficult (and too much flower in some of them).

Some other possibilities:

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]

I would definitely cross off [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as too much similar-sounding flower. Of your list, I like the sound of [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] the best with [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f], but those otherwise wouldn’t be my favorites. (I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a darling name, but share your concern about popularity.)

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] is GORGEOUS!

Thanks, I’ve added [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. My other worry with [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is that the nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is too close to my name, [name_f]Evie[/name_f].

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] (long, but awesome)
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] (long, but awesome)

I love [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] for a middle name!

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - too rhyme, but I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - love it!
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - love it! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is ranked number 90 in the US, but not sure if it’s more popular in [name_f]Canada[/name_f].
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - not appealing to me
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - nice
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - nice
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - ok

[i][name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] is just gorgeous! My favorite [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] combo is [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], so how about [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]?

My favorite from your list is [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] followed by [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. I definitely think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is too much flower.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know the genders of your twins? Both girls?

I really love [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] – I would avoid another flower and even a gemstone name ([name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]) as it becomes a little too word-y. In other words, I don’t ordinarily think of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as word-names, but when paired with [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f], that aspect jumps out more.

I like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] are fine as well but I dislike [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f].

Now that I look it up, [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] isn’t as popular as I thought. It is 99 in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] as a whole, though it is closer to 50 in British [name_f]Columbia[/name_f]. I don’t actually know a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] of any age. Dh would die of happiness if I let him have [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] together if we have two girls.

[QUOTE=felicitysmoak;2947041]I love [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] for a middle name!

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - too rhyme, but I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - love it!
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - love it! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is ranked number 90 in the US, but not sure if it’s more popular in [name_f]Canada[/name_f].

I like the flow as well, but [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is pretty popular in my area (I know several my daughters’ ages).

Thanks! I really like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. We know that we are having one girl, but the other was uncooperative at my 20 week sonogram. In [name_f]Canada[/name_f], it isn’t all that common to have more than one scan (and I already had two), but I’ll probably get another one to determine position at around 35-36 weeks, so hopefully he/she will be less modest!

I like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] a whole lot. I’d also suggest [name_f]Marilla[/name_f] [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] as a possibility.

[name_m]How[/name_m] exciting! [name_m]How[/name_m] are you going about picking potential sibset names for the TBD gender?
