Amberley?

I watched a movie today and heard the name Amberley. And I kind of fell in love with it, which is weird because I hate the name [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and most that end in [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sounds. But I love the Texan, southern feel of Amberley and love it next to [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]!! I’m my opinion, it does feel quite trendy but not in a dated-in-five-minutes kind of way. This is one of the reasons I like it but am unsure about it at the same time!

So here are questions I am curious to know:

  1. What is your general impression of Amberley? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it/hate it? Why?

  2. What spelling do you prefer? I quite like Amberley and Amberleigh. I even kind of like Ambaleigh!

  3. What’s your favourite nickname for it? I am thinking “Am”, pronounced [name_f]Air[/name_f]-M.

  4. Which names from my signature do you think would work alongside Amberley?

  5. Any middle name suggestions??

If you’ve made it this far, thank you!! I look forward to hearing your responses and opinions!!!

I like the spelling [name_f]Amberly[/name_f] the best

I taught a little girl named Amberlee several years ago. I do like the sound of it but to me it feels like a mash up of [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u] and [name_f]Amber[/name_f] which are both good names, just a little dated

I quite like Amberley. There’s something pleasing, bouncy and sweet about the sounds. [name_f]Amberly[/name_f] is probably my favourite spelling

[name_f]Ami[/name_f] or [name_f]Bee[/name_f]/[name_f]Bea[/name_f] would make nice nicknames. You’ve also got [name_f]Bambi[/name_f] or [name_u]Abby[/name_u]

From your signature, I think [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Hayes[/name_m], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_m]Clayton[/name_m], [name_m]Jared[/name_m] and [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] work alongside it

For middles:
Amberley [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
Amberley [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
Amberley [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Zara[/name_f]

Cute and fun name! I think the name has a slight “made up feel” but it has very recognizable components that keep it from being too out there. I think it is pretty name and I like it better than [name_f]Amber[/name_f] alone. I agree that it has the southern charm that matches [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], but it feels a little clunky when I saw it.

I like Amberley or [name_f]Amberly[/name_f] for spelling, Amberleigh feels overly complicated and Ambaleigh loses the familiarity of [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and really seems made up.

I would assume [name_f]Amber[/name_f] or Amb (Amby) would be natural nicknames but I’m a little confused by [name_f]Air[/name_f]-M from Am.

[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] match Amberley the best! Southern and modern vibe, whereas your other names are a little more classic

Amberley [name_f]Isla[/name_f], Amberley [name_f]Kara[/name_f], Amberley [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] from your sig

I don’t mind it - I think it has pleasing and familiar sounds, and I do think it sounds great next to [name_f]Savannah[/name_f].

First impression? Honestly I kinda hate it. But then I’m not a fan of [name_f]Amber[/name_f], and I’ve seen So Many names lately with [name_u]Lee[/name_u] tacked on to make it “fresh” or “new” that most banes like it only screams five minutes and dated to me.

BUT it’s not the worst. I would definitely suggest sticking to Amberley, [name_f]Amberly[/name_f], or even Amberlie. The othe spellings seem too much and like it’s trying too hard for what the name is.

Amberlie looks a bit like [name_f]Amber[/name_f] Lie but reminds me of an [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] feel. Amberley I kinda want to pronounce [name_f]Amber[/name_f]-[name_m]Lay[/name_m]. I like simple [name_f]Amberly[/name_f] best.

Nn wise I like [name_f]Bee[/name_f] because the B and ie sound feel very prominent.
I sort of feel your nn idea feels a bit off? Like it doesn’t quite work.

Honestly I much prefer the name [name_f]Emberly[/name_f] and recommend it.

Middle name/signature wise I’d suggest something short and sweet like [name_f]Amberly[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to help give it that southern vibe you like.

Also I feel like you’d get some people pronouncing it like two names [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] instead of Amberley. And that’s something I avoid personally.

I agree with everything @angelicaecb says. I’m not a huge fan, and yes it does feel “made up.” That being said, I love the name [name_u]Everly[/name_u] so I can’t really judge. With [name_u]Everly[/name_u] being relatively well-known, I don’t think [name_f]Amberly[/name_f]/Amberlee/Amberley (my preferred spellings) will get any strange looks.

Ha I was just thinking about this name yesterday and how I loved it when I was 9. While it does have that feel of two names smooshed together, it actually works, though I prefer the simpler [name_f]Amberly[/name_f] spelling. It’s very femme, but also kind of cutesy. It goes alongside currently popular [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u].

From your list, I would pair [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Lillia[/name_f] as sisters.

For a middle, I would go with something a little more unisex or serious for balance.
Amberley [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
Amberley [name_u]Gray[/name_u]
Amberley [name_u]Kit[/name_u]
Amberley [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Amberley [name_f]Marine[/name_f]
Amberley [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
Amberley [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
Amberley [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
Amberley [name_u]Seren[/name_u]
Amberley [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]
Amberley [name_f]Willa[/name_f]

  1. I am indifferent to the name, there’s nothing wrong with it, but I don’t love it either, it’s just not my type of name. I like [name_f]Amber[/name_f] more, but with the -ley ending, it sounds kind of made up and too many extra letters.

  2. If I could choose, it would be [name_f]Amberly[/name_f], but between those options, it would probably be Amberley.

  3. I like Am, [name_f]Ammy[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmy[/name_f], or Amby.

  4. Amberley [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or Amberley [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] flows the best to me.

I was never keen on Amberley until I came upon the character of Amberle (pronounced the same way) while watching The Shannara Chronicles. I loved the elvish, whimsical sound brought to it then due to the nature of the show and character, while before it did sound and look quite trendy. There’s also a suburb by this name not far from me that has a prominent air force base in it, so that is another association I have, though obviously you wouldn’t.

I think you best bet for spelling is Amberley or [name_f]Amberly[/name_f]. I’m not as fond of any other variations, as they can make the name seem even trendier than it needs to, and I fear it wouldn’t age as well.

I think from your signature, Amberley works well alongside [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] & [name_f]Sienna[/name_f].

Amberley makes me think that her parents were trying so so hard to be unique . I don’t see her as a smart kiddo.

Knew a great girl named [name_f]Amberly[/name_f], she always went by “Am”
