Ambrose

Hello:)–after looking through the family tree of names we came across the name [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]. His nickname was Amby(Ambie). We are really drawn to this name. The things I like about it are:

  1. Its not super common(well it was in the 200’s in the early 1900’s)
  2. Its easy to pronounce when looking at the name.
  3. When hearing the name its easy to figure out the spelling(I think).
  4. I think it sounds masculine and i like the cutesy nickname, especially when he is little.

My only concern is that its going to seem too “out there” despite the simplicity of the name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think i should be concerned? I realize most people have probably never heard this name(I hadn’t until looking at the family tree), but its a legit name. I don’t want people to be turned off from it just because they have never heard of it.

I think if you love it, than you don’t need to worry about it. I see [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] as very old fashioned, but that is not necessarily a bad thing!

Thanks :). I guess i just don’t want to get crazy looks all the time when i say his name.

I love [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]! It’s on my long list. I don’t think it’s “too out there”. I think most people are familiar with it and even though it’s not common, it’s a name that has been used for such a long time and really isn’t that “weird”. You should use it!
