This one is a tough one for us, so I’m wanting some opinions!
It’s all down to Amelia and Everly. Both, I know, are popular and trendy. Our angel’s name is Wyatt so we would like it to flow nicely with his name. We’ve been tossing these two names around for a while now, and we have pros and cons to both.
Amelia- We love the classic/timeless feel! I know that will age well as she grows up. I personally, don’t care for any of the common nicknames for Amelia though. Amelia has a way better meaning to it as well, which meanings are huge for us.
Everly- It sounds so whimsical and beautiful when we say it. However, every time I’m on social media and see a girl birth announcement, it feels like almost every one of those are an Everly. Which I can understand why! But I’m also curious if she’s applying for a job, is that a name that’s professional enough? Meaning, is it a name she can grow well into all stages of life?
So I’m wanting some opinions to help us decide! Her personality already is definitely hilarious! I know that can change throughout time, but right now she’s a spunky little one!
So!
Amelia June (Wyatt + Amelia)
Everly June (Wyatt + Everly)
I see why you’re torn. Both are lovely combos! I would ask: how important are nicknames to you, and would you be interested in any less intuitive nicknames or do you prefer a very clear connection to the given name?
Hmm, I’m not sure on the professional level, but considering the number of children with modern sounding names I do doubt it’ll be a huge problem. (Maybe this is where your social media concern helps out. She won’t be the only [name_u]Everly[/name_u]!) Personally, I know the name is trendy and all, but I could see it aging well because I see the word [name_u]Ever[/name_u] and I think “timeless” but that might just be me.
I’d also ask if you’re considering having another child after [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_u]Everly[/name_u]. This isn’t necessarily the biggest thing to consider, but it might help: what do you want the sibset to look like? [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] sounds modern but has a more classic feel, whereas [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u] would make me expect an equally trendy sounding third sibling name.
I really love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], just a tad more than [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u], but both are wonderful options! Congrats!
I wouldn’t worry about [name_u]Everly[/name_u] not sounding professional enough, employers will have seen other Everlys and won’t think twice about it.
It really comes down to which parts of your criteria are most important to you. Which bothers you more: trendiness or popularity? [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is more popular, as it is in the top 10 list of girl’s names, whereas [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is trendy but ranks around #50. Of course, both could move up and down the charts over time. Both are lovely names that will age well. Good luck
Thank you! My husband really loves the name [name_m]Levi[/name_m] for our next son! So I’m not sure if that falls under the classic or trendy category! Obviously that’s not decided but he’s already mentioned how he wants that name to be used in our family, haha. For girls, we clearly don’t have any other names! I don’t mind nicknames as I grew up with several, and so did my husband, but I wouldn’t say they are super important to me either. haha
I much prefer [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. I love the flow and the rhythm of it, the modern yet established feel. It does feel new and more ‘trendy’ than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but there’s something familiar and well established in the sounds that make it work
Strange in reading through this tread, I kept getting the feeling for [name_f]Amabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] is a very old name that predates [name_f]Annabel[/name_f],.
Both names are lovely but I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. It strikes me as grounded and spunky. That said, I think [name_u]Everly[/name_u] will age just fine.
