Popularity aside, which do you prefer? Does [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] sound too similar to [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]?
(FWIW - My husband is not on board with [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] so this is mostly hypothetical unless he agrees to something besides [name_f]Amelia[/name_f])
I have also never been a fan of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but I do like the sound of [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. I’m not sure how I feel about it with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] since it does seem slightly similar, but it’s not bad.
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] are okay, but I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] sounds better with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. That said, I prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], mostly because of the nickname possibilities.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is not too similar to [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] at all. I adore both [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I personally prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], slightly preferring [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] over [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
I like both names but prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. i don’t think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is too similar to [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you call your son [name_u]Sam[/name_u]? [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is adorable! (But so is [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_f]Milly[/name_f], if you’re thinking to call [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] that )
Yes, we do call our son [name_u]Sam[/name_u] 99% of the time. Husband shot down [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] pretty quickly but did say he likes “just [name_f]Anne[/name_f]”
I don’t think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] sounds like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] at all.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is one of my favourite names since childhood, it was the name of coolest characters in my silly stories. My favorite spelling is [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is nice too. I also feel like [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] is kinda middle ground here.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] feels so elegant and sleek to me. I like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] too but it doesn’t have the same sweetness and touch of glamour that [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] does. I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] at all, especially since most Samuels go by [name_u]Sam[/name_u].
I love them both! Pretty equally, actually. I’m not sure about the -el endings with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], but the endings sound different to me (YUHL vs. [name_f]ELLE[/name_f]), so I think it works just fine, honestly. I think I’m slightly leaning toward [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], too. I think either one is beautiful with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]!
Thanks everyone! I’m annoying my husband so maybe he’ll warm up to it If not, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is fine by me too.
@ashthedreamer - It might be the accent thing but I say [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] with 3 syllables and a very slight -elle sound at the end. He is almost always [name_u]Sam[/name_u] though so it shouldn’t be a huge deal
I love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and I think it sounds better with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] as well. If you don’t fully love the name, you could also call her [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as a nn with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
Easily [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]! I know [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] gets a lot of love on here but all I ever associate it with is a cow. I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is beautiful btw!
