Amélie Joanna

Recently, I’ve fallen back in love with the name Amélie. It’s long been a favorite, but I took it off my top names list because for a long time, I was worried that people where I live in the US wouldn’t be able to pronounce it properly, but I feel like that is changing as it increases in popularity here. (Well, it’s still at #681, so it’s definitely not popular!) Most of my heritage is French, so I’d like to honor that somehow. [name]Joanna[/name] has long been a middle name contender because it’s my husband’s late mother’s name.

What do you think of the combo Amélie [name]Joanna[/name]?

My only hesitation is that a coworker of mine just named her daughter [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Joanna[/name] (minus the accent over the e). We’re friends at work but don’t socialize much outside of work. Would it be weird to name my daughter essentially the same thing she named hers? ([name]Joanna[/name] is a family name for her as well.) Am I overthinking this? Of course, there’s no guarantee we’ll still be coworkers when I have a child…

Alternately, I like Amélie [name]Josephine[/name]. (My [name]MIL[/name] also went by “[name]Jo[/name]”.)

I love [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]!

Thank you! I’ve always loved the name [name]Josephine[/name] as well, and I suppose it’s even better if it can honor a loved one.
